July Friendship Flower 2008

Happy Birthday Canada and USA this month!!! Hopefully the sun is shining where ever you plan to celebrate. For most of us our kids are out of school and the lazy days of summer are here. So any special plans are grand holidays planned????

Sandie, I talked to my bil who has a side job working for Coca-cola. I asked him about the diet cherry chocolate dr. pepper. Apparently Dr. Pepper is not technically a coke product but is often bottled at a Coke plant. Other times it is bottled elsewhere at different soda bottling plants. I guess that is why availability is scattered. I was not able to find it at the Wal-mart here in Tilton (where the good sale was) but was able to find it at the Hannafords here. I hope your cold is better today. Do you and Darryl go to fireworks on the 4th?

Joy, glad you had a good time with your potluck group. I think that is such a great tradition. Glad you also were able to get together with family . Sounds like Paige is having an awesome time in Japan and doing lots of fun things. So funny to think of baseball being so different over there.

Theresa, I am sorry you had a meltdown but you deserve to have one if you want to, especially with all you are going through. I hope your treatment goes well today and then just one more to go!!! I know you will be relieved to have them over with. Sorry your neighbors are being so awful and it isn’t fair that the police do not do anything to help. Is there anyone higher up you could go to that might help with the situation, someone over the police since they are being so ineffective? It isn’t fair that you and your other neighbors have to put up with such inexcusable behavior from this one family. I hope today and tonight go better for you.

Charlotte, glad to hear you had a good time camping. I haven’t been camping since last year when we went white water rafting. Very glad to hear your ds in Iraq is doing well. How long before he gets to come home? And don’t you just love doing all those college visits. We just went through that all this past spring. Hope you got to enjoy your quiet evening.

Connie, sorry to hear your having trouble with your blood sugar and that your dh is being “difficult”. I hope today is a better day for you. Also hope that the people come get the wood and actually pay for it!!! I sure wouldn’t let them have it without the money up front, though. And congrats to your dd on getting such a good report from the doctor!! I hope things continue to get better and better for her.

Felicia, you are right, there are many men out there who lack compassion and are selfish. I am married to one too. Guess we can’t help who we fall in love with. Hope the unpacking is going smoothly. Can’t wait to see the pics when everything is all done.

Donna (dval) It is nice that if your dh just wants to spend money, he did spend some on you LOL. My dh is very good at spending money on himself but once in a very great while surprises me. My dh is also an excellent cook but I can’t remember the last time he cooked for me. When we were dating he cooked for me all the time. I think that was his ruse to hook me!

Cathy, hope you feel better soon from your tooth extraction. Those are no fun at all. Try to get some rest.

Happy Canada Day to all our Canadian friends! The sun is shining this morning but more thunder showers expected this afternoon. Yuck. I have so much cleaning to get done before my best friend visits this weekend. It is never ending. Ds1 has decided he wants to go try for his driver’s license on Thursday so is busy re-reading the law book. Keep your fingers crossed as he has to get his license before my vacation in August as we are going to the island and he will have no one at home to drive him to and from work. He is in the same boat my dd was in last summer and she passed just in the nick of time. He is a good driver, just a little overly cautious which can be a mixed blessing. Dh and ds2 may be going to the island this weekend for the 4th but dd and ds1 both have to work so will still be around. I just plan on having fun with my best friend. We are going out to dinner, then to the Melissa Etheridge concert, and probably out for breakfast the next morning and then maybe either some retail therapy or a movie. Well, time for me to go get some of that cleaning done. Hope everyone is having a good morning.

Happy Canada Day.

Wow July already. This is the month when the Library program ends and work settles down a bit. Usually July finds relatives popping in for vacations or family reunions. In Iowa, July is normally hot and humid and filled with mosquitos. I am personally hoping to find sometime to take a few days off from work in July.
Today is Storytime for me. We are reading stories today about creepy, crawly bugs and slugs. We are making a cute caterpillar refrigerator magnet out of a clothespin, poms, pipecleaner and a magnetic strip. Hopefully I will be able to post a picture later of our creations. Snack today is dirt cups with gummy worms--Yum Yum!
Hope everyone is having a great day.

HAPPY CANADA DAY to all of you in Canada!
I just lost my whole post, and now I dont have time to repost everything, how aggravating lol!
Theresa, too bad you dont have the police force we have here, they dont tolerate "disturbing" the peace complaints, they are very clear on what will happen if they have to make more than 1 visit, lol.
Sammi, sounds like you and your friend are gonna have a fun time, love the expression "retail therapy" I need some of that today lol. Once again Darryl invited people over here for the 4th, and didnt even ask me. He thinks its nothing to have a cookout, because all he does is throw the meat on the grill. I was just about in tears last night, and he knew he was in the doghouse, cuz he came in with Friendlys Forbidden Chocolate Ice cream, when he went to the store (one of my favs).Well time to take the clothes out of the dryer and , hope you all have a great day. Hugs Sandie

Hi everyone!

I'm popping in at lunch today because I might not get here tonight. I have some cleaning to do tonight, possibly a little retail therapy for my Goddaughter Susan. Her birthday is next week and JC Penny is having a good sale this week.
This month is my mom & dad's birthday's so I might be a little depressed on those days. I having a Mass said for them at my church this Sunday.
My oldest brother's birthday is this month and my sister-in-law in Florida. And of course there's the birthday of my best friend forever, Robin.
Busy month for birthdays. Tells you what people were doing on those cold winter nights back in November!

Time to go for my walk now, I'll be back later if I can.

Happy Canada Day!!

Wow! I had a lot of pages to read.

Sammi, love your new pic.
I can resize pics in my photo album program. I too go with the 25%, but sometimes I still can't upload to FC and have to go smaller.

Crafty, didn't know you could decorate cakes. That is something I can not do.

Thank you Crafty, Theresa, Joy, for the compliments on my craft corner and pic.

Joy, if you pick me up on the way to dval's, I'll pay for half the gas.

Theresa, it is okay that you had a melt down. Better to cry and get it all out than trying to hold it in. Only 1 more treatment after today. I hope those mouth sores go away soon.

Sammi, I hope your ds1 gets his liscense. That will make things so much easier for you.
Nice that you will have a short week. Hope you can get another child soon though.
I like the idea of retail therapy.

My dh likes to spend money too. Is that a man thing? He spends it mostly on fishing. Never on me. But he doesn't complain when I buy something. Yesterday we had to go down to the Milwaukee area and we had lunch with his dd and her family at a resturant. He took money out of the checking account with the idea of paying for everyone's meal. Well, his dd said she was paying for it since it was her idea and she picked out the place. Now will he put the money back in the checking account? No, he will keep it in his pocket for more money to spend on himself. Now that was the idea behind not wanting to write out a check or put it on the credit card. Sly fox!!

The 3hr round trip for a 20 min. meeting was worth it. The 7 payment plans for his pension were explained very well and now we know which one to apply for which he needs to do in Feb. They want the paperwork started a year ahead of time and this meeting to take place soon after that. His retirement date is May 15, 2009. It is a big relief to have this taken care. We also have to apply for Medicare in Feb. and get supplement insurance. We have met with an insurance agent to get basic info and will meet with them again in Jan.
So much info to sift through. And of course you want these important decision to be the right decisions.

Hi to everyone.
