Geoffrey Rush was mostly a theatre actor and one of his earlier movies is one called Shine(?) about a brilliant Au pianist that had psychological problems, this is a great movie by him.

Another is
Noah Taylor, (both Tomb Raider movies, A Star Wars, Charlie and the Choc Factory (with Depp) Vanilla Sky.
