| | | DebK, I am glad you had a terrific evening.
Sammi, have fun setting new resolutions. I hope you have fun with the Chinese food and movies.
Cau, my dad was into bow and arrows. You would definately have to be a nature girl to do that. I am not a nature girl either. I am definately going to go shooting before I go back to school.
The GKs, Bonte, and myself took DH out to breakfast for him and a late lunch for us for DHs birthday. We also went to get some movies. A woman worked at the store that I had previously gone to college with. She had to drop out due to a terminally ill mother. I hope eventually she can go back to school. This evening, we went out to where DH works and visited him and his co-worker. Rodney, his co-worker told us where all the DUI checkpoints are since we were coming back home and he is also a part-time cop. After I went through the trouble of getting my driver's license ready and my registration, we didn't see a single cop anywhere! lol It was still early though. I have homemade pizza in the oven. When we get through eating, we will take our party to the bedroom where we will watch movies! I doubt the GKs will be awake by the time the new year rolls in here in New Mexico. DGD doesn't understand that her parents will be in the new year before we will in NM because they are in Texas and in a different time zone. lol |

Here in Australia we celebrated 2008 a little earlier than you do. Here at the Village we invited all the residents to join with us watching a DVD - Andre Rieu in Vienna. About 42 people came and it was a wonderful evening. About 1/2 way through we stopped and had a lovely supper, then finished the movie by about 11.30 pm. Some people went home but about 12 of us stayed and watched the fireworks in Melbourne on the TV and then came home about 12.30 p.m. It was the hottest night for the year and the hottest New Year's Day since they started keeping records. I cannot remember it being this hot so consistently. It is a little cooler tonight and tomorrow should be a better day.
I wish you all a very happy 2008. God bless, Marj

Happy New Year! We had a nice time at our friends' house. Luke even stayed up well past midnight and enjoyed the fireworks--though he hit the wall shortly after and cried and cried when it was time to leave.
Today we will be heading to my in-laws' house where FIL will cook dinner. I have no idea what he's making but we always enjoy his experiments with Food Network recipes.
Wishing all of you a very happy and healthy new year!

Happy New Year's to everyone here!
We stayed up too. Watching tv shows, eating snacky things, staying warm by the fireplace. We had some pink sparkling grape juice to toast with and this year for the first time did not set off little sparklers and fireworks outside. The wind has picked up and winter came in to our town with the change in year from 2007 to 2008.
This is the last day before return to work...slow start this am...but might order some sweaters from Woolrich as the prices look good. Might be too late though and most things out of stock by now.

| | | We had a busy day yesterday. We took Papa out for a meal, got more movies, and went to visit him at work. Then, we made and ate pizza for dinner. The kids didn't take long to fall asleep during the first movie. I had told them that whatever movies we didn't watch we would watch tonight. However, DGD had several attitude fits yesterday when she stomped her feet and said things that she shouldn't. I won all those battles. At 2:30am, she woke me up and told me to turn on the movies! I told her it was the middle of the night and that we would watch them tonight. She refused to go back to bed and told me to turn them on! I finally had to tell her that if she didn't go back to bed and go back to sleep, we would NOT be watching movies tonight. She didn't, so she will have to wait another day to watch more movies. She gets like this from time to time and needs a little attitude ajustment. She gets used to the spoiling and then crosses that line.
Poor DH. He works from 5pm to 5am, not including driving time. We woke up at nearly 8am and Papa wasn't here. I got worried and called work. They had problems and when the relief crew came, they helped. But, one of them got gassed and had to be taken to the ER!!!! I bet someone, if not all, are supposed to be wearing gas masks. They work at a gas plant. So, DH is working until relief comes. He will probably sleep all day WHEN he comes home. At least he is off for a few days. |

DebK, sounds like you had a really fun New Year's eve. Bonfires are always fun but I think even more so in winter. Hope you have a great time at the party today.
Marj, it sounds like you had a really great New Year's eve. I thought of you, Meg & Lynne all reaching 2008 before us here in the states.
Barbszy, sounds like Luke did really well making it to past midnight. I hope you have a great dinner today. You will have to tell us what your fil decided to make.
Ellen, it sounds like you had a nice quiet New Year's eve in. I hope you enjoy your last day off before you go back to work.
DeBora, it sounds like your New Year's went well other than dgd's "attitude problem". I can't even imagine having to get up at 2 a.m. to convince a child that it was not time to watch movies LOL. I hope today things get back to normal and peace reigns. I also hope your dh makes it home safely and that the man taken to the er is ok.
We stayed in for New Year's and my brother in law came to celebrate with us. We did have the Chinese food and watched videos until it was time to watch the ball drop. The we toasted in the New Year with champagne. Dd and I ended up watching Waitress which was quirky and good, and then we watched Reign Over Me which was very good. Dh, ds2 and my bil watched the newest Harry Potter movie and a couple others (not sure what). Ds2 spent the evening with his friends and it was wierd not having him here. He turned 18 a couple weeks ago so gets more freedom now. I figured and 18 yo would have much more fun with his friends then with his parents. They all played games, ate junk food and watched videos at his friend Beki's house. Today I am getting the house ready for work tomorrow and hoping to find a bit of time to watch another video. School starts back tomorrow to so this is the last day of vacation for my dss. Hope everyone has a great first day of 2008!
