Dog the Bounty Hunter's racial slurs

I am wondering what else everyone thinks about Dog Chapman, the Bounty Hunter, said in his private phone conversation to his son? He said the "N" word multiple times as he was angry that his son was dating a Black woman who threatened Dog's wife. You have to listen to the entire 5 minute conversation to get it in context.

Here is my beef. There are so many rap singers that I hear in people's cars at stop lights, who are Black, who are saying the "N" word amongst other racial slurs, including those against Whites as well as other vulgar language. However, I don't hear the media making a big deal out of that. I am not saying that Dog was right in what he said. But, I think that the media that published a private conversation wasn't ethical. I also think that many people will say things they shouldn't in the heat of the moment. This particular son hasn't been out of prison very long either. I am sure Dog was upset that he is hanging out with people who are on drugs. I also think there is a double standard for people who use vulgar language and racial slurs.

What do you think? Am I alone in thinking that a big deal is being made of Dog and Imus but not much, if anything, is being said about people, such as rap stars saying the exact same thing? Shouldn't nobody be using these words? Nobody has complained about him saying the "F" word, the "GD" word, or the "S" word!

I agree that the media picks and chooses what it makes a big deal about. I also think that people like Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton decide what they think will garner them much publitcity and jump on it. They like to make an example of certain things. I don't think those people are right. I think anything that is putting down another human being is wrong. Period! But I am a believer of right is right and wrong is wrong. Schools put rules in place about touching because students and parents complain about improper touching. Well then you tell your kids not to touch , even if you are a girl and like to hug, don't do it in school.

I know I am in the minorty about that but having worked for 30 years in the schools I don't think you can expect them to pick and chose about how to follow the rule. Most parents think their child is innocent no matter what and want the other student punished to the limit and beyond. Sorry for the rant

Cau, rant all you want. These social rules are getting ridiculous! People over-reacted when they realized there was child abuse by turning in every child who had a bruise to Child Protective Services. We have heard many Black celebrity use the N word so many times with no public complaints. But, when 1 White person uses it, it is a big deal!!! There seems to be 2 standards.

As far as Duane Chapman, although I don't think he should use that word, he was on a private phone conversation in his home. If a Black celebrity's son just got out of prison and was hanging out with a White woman who was doing drugs, being a bad influence, and threatening his wife, he would probably call her a few racial slurs amongst other things.

Another gripe that I have is that we have Black organizations, Indian organizations, Hispanic organizations, and so on that receive government grants for college. But, there are no Irish organizations, White organizations, and so on. Again, a double standard. I think that as a society, we hear the media complain that we need to reduce hate crimes and racism. But, the very fact that we focus on race creates racism. We should be helping those who are in need, regardless or their race.

I also have a problem with the media playing that audio of Dog the Bounty Hunter's private conversation that was illegally taped and condenming him yet they over look those celebritites who make racial slurs when they know they are being filmed or taped.

Okay, I will get off my soapbox.

I have to agree with you Debora. While it is wrong to use that word, this was an invansion of his privacy. What is said in private should stay that way.But because he is a celbrtity and is a white guy they jump all over him.Anyways that is just my opinion. You would think he would have knowen better but i read somewhere that he doesn't approve of the sons girlfriend. There are other ways to express yourself.

I think that a conversation between father and son should never have been recorded in the first place and just who did record it and how did the National Enquirer get it...and Dog's son Tucker never said a word through the whole conversation...

I watch Dog the Bounty Hunter every week...now his use of several strong words is no worse than what rappers are screaming into the microphones and kids are listening too...

That's my opinion...

I think that they are making abig deal out of it. Especially if this wass a private conversation. If his son wants to date a black woman I don't deny him that but she should never threaten his family. That should be a warning to the son right there to dump her. I think Ib know how Dog feels about his family. I wouldn't stand for threats either.

Didn't Tucker or someone in his household sell the audio tape? If Dog didn't tape it, the only other alternative is that his DS or his girlfriend did it with the DSs permission. It sounds as though the DS is a dirt bag. What kind of a son does that to his father? If I were Dog, I would sue the gf or the DS for the damages to his reputation for taping him illegally. jmo
