Help! My antivirus won't allow me to open a web page!

My computer's anti-virus (Avast) suddenly won't allow me to open a Web page to get on the Internet. Does anyone know what I should do?

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it still will not allow me online unless I turn it off. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

You should check the antivirus software's webite to see if it's a problem that has happened before. Can you get on any websites? Have you used that software before?
You might also have some kind of adware/spyware that is making it go plooey.
If you aren't loyal to that antivirus you could try another. I use AVG (by Grisoft). This is their website where you could download the free version to test drive it. I've never had any problems with it.

Thanks. I cannot find anything on Avast. It suddenly started after I unstalled my secure wireless router. Something may have happened there, but I am not sure. I also posted on their thread about it so I will wait and see what others who have Avast have to say.

I discovered, through a forum on Avast, what was wrong. My firewall wasn't allowing me online! I had to uninstall Sygate and install Comodo firewall instead. I now have a firewall and an antivirus running on my computer with no problems.

Donna, I am SO hoping that there will be no more problems! lol There has been nothing but problems, especially when it comes to the Internet! Some day some how, Murphy and his Law have to go! lol

I am glad that everything is fixed. I am also using Avast and will not trade it for anything. I was going to tell you about checking the firewall because I know Avast does not block a browser from openning. This would help if your browser is being hijacked.
