Do you fly your country's flag at your house?

With Independence Day tomorrow, I'm wondering if you fly your country's flag at your house?

Do you fly it everyday or just on holidays?

Here at our house, we have flown our flag continuously since 9/11. Before that, we mostly flew it on holidays.

Tami we always fly the Canadian flag year round at our home. We also have added a flag that says We Support Our troops, Come home Soon with a big yellow ribbon on it.

we have little flags around and in front of our mailbox by the road. We've tried to fly a flag attached to our house but we need to find a better place to attach it-first the cord for the flag was destroyed, we replaced that and then the pole fell off the house. We will get it flying again....

You bet! We have a full sized flag on our utility pole so it is under a light at night. It is usually up all year round, unless we have bad weather. During the summer months I have a couple of smaller flags that I display in planters by the doors during the day. I also have a red, white & blue windsock and a wooden flag type decoration that hangs on the garage all summer.

Yes, we fly our flag every day. We lost a family member in Iraq. My db fought in Viet Nam. I lost an uncle in WW2 and others in my family have fought in way to many wars. I fly it to honor them and their memories and to rememebr " FREEDOM IS NOT FREE"

I have two small flags in the front planters and a large one off the deck. I put the 'flag days' on my desk calendar to remind me to put it out for those days especially. If I do not have a seasonal flag for that month, then I fly the USA flag then too.

FYI -
This information was in my flag kit: By Bissell Outdoor Products
Flag Holidays
New Year’s Day, January 1
Inauguration Day, January 20
Lincoln’s Birthday, February 12
Washington’s Birthday (President’s Day), 3rd Monday in February
Easter Sunday (variable)
Mother’s Day, Second Sunday in May
Armed Forces Day, third Saturday in May
Memorial Day (half-staff until noon), last Monday in May
Flag Day, June 14
Independence Day, July 4
Labor Day, first Monday in September
Constitution Day, September 17
Columbus Day, 2nd Monday in October
Veteran’s Day, November 11
Thanksgiving Day, fourth Thursday in November
Christmas Day, December 25
Such other days as may be proclaimed by the President of the United States; the birthdays of States (dates of admission) and on State holidays.

Flag Etiquette
It is the universal custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset on buildings and on stationary flagstaffs in the open. However, the flag may be displayed at night upon special occasions when it is desired to produce a patriotic effect.
The flag should be hoisted briskly and lowered ceremoniously.
No other flag or pennant should be place above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of American, except during church services conducted by naval chaplains at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for the personnel of the Navy.
The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day. By “half-staff” is meant lowering the flag to one-half the distance between the top and the bottom of the staff.
That no disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America, the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.
The flag should never be displayed with the union down save as a signal of dire distress.
The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor or water.
The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.
When a U.S. flag has become discolored, frayed or town so that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display Flag Etiquette prescribes that it “should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”
