I had to lol when I read Paris is terrified to go pee pee in jail lol. She is terrified that the guards or staffers woul get her with the cell-phone cam and it would wind up on the internet.......I'll add BUT she wasn't terrified to drink and drive...........

I will have to say that it is a scary environment in jail or prison. You bathe in front of everyone, unless you are in solitary, then you bathe in front of a couple of guards. In jails, females aren't always afforded the luxury of being able to urinate, deficate, or bathe in front of female guards, which means, in front of male guards. That doesn't include the teasing and taunting she will be getting too. The guards are generally not nice to anyone. They are stern and sometimes mean. So, in her defense, I can totally see why she is scared. When she drove after she drank, she at least has desensitized by the alcohol and was doing something socially acceptable. But, now she is paying the piper, and it isn't fun or pretty. Those guards don't make much money, so I am sure getting a photo of her for large sums of money is tempting. She should be afraid.

Have to disagree a little.....I have a very good freind who is a prison guard....and I might add makes a very decent salary with great benefits. He's dealing with hard core prisoners like murders on a daily basis. Big difference between a prision and a jail....In jail if you have a man guard they must announce themselves upon doing routine work, or for any movement around the womens unit. In a jail the men or women guards do not watch you bath, you are in a stall or within a curtain. If you do not want to shower with other inmates you are allowed to wait till the shower is empty........Guards can never stand there and watch you in the shower or while you are going to the bathroom unless there is some sort of fight and then the guard must announce they are coming....This is how it works in the woman's unit in JAILS which Paris is in the medical section of a jail this is why I had to lol it struck me funny.....She should have given a thought to a designated driver like most of us in the real world do........

The rules and jails vary depending on the jurisdiction. Around here, especially in a situation like Paris Hilton, a male guard can be there while they are going to the bathroom or taking a shower, although they aren't watching. But, if she is in imminent danger, someone has to watch her at all times.

As for the guards, for the poo that they deal with on a daily basis, none of them will ever get rich. It is a secure job. All the ones that I have dealt with are stern and sometimes mean, or at least on the job, with the inmates. Unless you have seen your friend at work, you may be surprised to see how different he is there. It isn't that they are bad people as some of my friends work in jails too. They are really neat people outside of work. But, inside the jail when they are working with prisoners, they HAVE to be tough and not allow the inmates to take advantage of them. I know when I worked with inmates, it was like working with teens at the age of 12-15. They were all on that level.

I don't know how things are run in a medical facility in a jail or prison. I do know if she is a danger to herself, she will never be allowed to shower or go potty alone. They may not stare at her, but they will be within eyeshot, even if they have to turn their heads a little.

I totally agree with you that if she can't do the time, she shouldn't have done the crime--what 4 times? Jail isn't supposed to be fun or comfortable. It is supposed to punish or keep people away from society so they won't break the law. Maybe next time, she will either stay home to drink or she'll get someone to bring her and pick her up.

However, I predict that she will end up in a rehab for alcohol, drugs, or both in the near future as I think she is some serious problems that she needs addressed as she has reached the point of those problems affecting her life.

Thanks for all the jail info DeBora..have never seen or want to see the inside of one..but it is unfortunate that she didn't think of the consequences before she did the drinking and driving..I can't even go potty in the doctor's office when they want a sample unless they let me go in alone and I lock the door behind me..one of the hardest things I had to endure in my hospital stays was the lack of privacy and the workers there are all nice not mean...but..that being said..she got what she deserved and maybe some of her drinking buddies will get the message and stay off the roads when they drink..

I'm having a heck of a time posting here....I just lost another post......I'll make this short before I lose this one to........Some of the prison/jail guards are aggressive people who are like this on the job and off. I can understand being aggressive with the hard cores...but in jail many are there for small crimes like traffic tickets and just sitting there because they can't make even the small bail....My friend told me that many of the guards ride these people more then he does with the hard cores. It's just in the personality of the person. My friend just does his job well and has the respect of the inmates....He has no trouble on his shift.....It is a hard job that you have to leave behind and not bring home. But many do.....It's like any other job it has to be done in the correct way to get the job done correctly....No I don't want this job lol....

The room that inmates are generally brought in and strip searched should also be imbarrassing too! Every body cavity is searched too! My friend, who is one of the head guards at the local jail showed me some brass knuckled they got out of the female body cavity, if you know what I mean as the female inmate had planned on beating up another inmate. She was arrested on purpose for that reason.

When I dealt with the inmates, I had to set boundaries and say NO a lot. Most of them spent their time conning all the staff. The guards are used to it and know what many are capable of. But, I am not, so I would just tell them to get it okayed with Phil, the head guy. I knew that they were asking for a privilege they weren't supposed to have when they didn't want to ask him. lol

I know that as a person the staff knew and I was not there to visit an inmate, but for professional reasons, it was still difficult getting in and out.

I really get tired of inmates crying for their rights to have certain haircuts, certain food, and so on. Well, the only right they have is to be feed, clothed, be protected from other inmates, and given medical attention. If they want to wear special shoes, have special hair cuts, then they shouldn't break the law!

Happy, I agree with you about the aggressiveness of many guards. There has been much research done about it too. You can look on the Internet about it. It was called the Standford prison experiment. The professor was named Zimbardo. The experiment was done at the university during the summer. Some college subjects were inmates and the others were guards. It showed that the behavior changed and it was filmed. It is now used to show what NOT to do and what is not ethical in experiments. But it was interesting how power happy the "guards" became and the subjects who were acting as inmates changed too. Many were sent to mental hospitals because they were having break-downs from how they were treated. But, keep in mind, this was done way before it became the rule for the ethical treatment of medical and psychological subjects as well as the ethical treatment of inmates.

It is easy to judge the guards when you don't have to walk a mile in their shoes. But, truthfully, I wouldn't want to do what they do 40 plus hours a day.

Happy, some people are good at their job. My grandfather was a cop and he was respected by all. But, some in the cj field are so power happy. I guess there are good and bad in every profession.

Well, back to my race.

Well, the good news is Paris is back in jail.

How obsessed a nation are we that the media gave almost constant converage to this particular topic when there is so much more going on the the country and the world.

She should never have been allowed out of jail in the first place (has anyone heard if the sherriff faced any consequences for letting her out?) And it is about time a celebrity actually had to face jail time in a real jail - not some swanky "rehab" center that caters to the rich and is basically a country club. Someone previously mentioned that if she wanted to drink and party she should hire a driver. I totally agree. Every time she drove drunk she risked killing herself or someone else. And just how many offenses for dui did she have before actually landing in jail not to mention she was also driving with a suspended license??? Any regular, non celebrity person would have been put in jail by a second offense. She called Barbara Walters on the phone and said she has changed - is reading the bible and other spiritual books while in jail and is now a different person. She now wants to "stop playing dumb" claiming that being dumb was all an "act" and wants to now contribute something to society. Well she drove drunk several times so to me that does not say she is smart. I guess time will tell whether she has learned anything from this adventure. I just wish the judicial system was a little more equitable - everyone was treated the same with no special treatment for being rich and famous.
