I agree. The Darling family wouldn't like her so much if she had killed one of their family members.

I am glad that Paris had to go back to jail. If they let her out of jail for 3 priors and after she didn't learn her lesson from the judge making her be punished outside of jail, then they have to allow all the other inmates to get out of jail too.

I hope the sheriff gets punished for what he did--disobeying a direct order!

Mm, even over here there is a fair bit of news coverage. I think there would be few people who woul seriously think she should be released early. Although, imagine how hard it would be to get enough sleep with all the jail noise around her! And she was cold, poor thing! Hmm, time that these celebs who are famous b/c daddy's $$$ realised the world doesn't owe them a living.

The way I understand things, she should have been sent to the hospital for a psychological evaluation, if it was a mental problem. If she kept deteriorating, then she should be assessed to determine the problem. If it was SO bad that she couldn't be treated in the jail's hospital, then she sould be court ordered to go to a mental ward. They can legally keep her for 72 hours to determine what needs to be done. (Like whether or not she needs to be confined and treated in the hospital, given medications, or what.) Then, if she needs to be confined, the court could order an additional 30 days. However, I am not sure if California has "good time" since they are a determinate state. But, if they do allow her to get out early for good behavior, I do not think that any of the time she spends in the hospital would could towards good time.

I personally wonder how serious her condition is since she was able to go out with her friends and party and drink alcohol. I mean, she was able to drink and drive and then recently, crash her car. But, yet, she can't stay in protective custody in jail? Give me a break.

I keep hearing the media say how strict the sentence is (after 4 charges). I can promise you one thing. Those same people would be the first to complain that the court wasn't strict enough if the judge didn't do anything but electronic monitoring, probabtion (which she wasn't obeying), and/or community service (which we know that she won't obey that either).

Judge Orders Paris Hilton Back to Jail
LOS ANGELES -- Paris Hilton was sent screaming and crying back to jail Friday after a judge ruled that she must serve out her sentence behind bars rather than in the comfort of her Hollywood Hills home.
"It's not right!" shouted Hilton, who violated her probation in a reckless driving case. "Mom!" she cried out to her mother.
Hours earlier, the 26-year-old hotel heiress was taken handcuffed from her home in a black-and-white police car, paparazzi sprinting in pursuit and helicopters broadcasting live from above. She entered the courtroom disheveled and weeping, hair askew, without makeup, wearing a fuzzy gray sweat shirt over slacks.

She cried throughout the hearing, dabbing her eyes, and her body shook constantly. Several times she turned to her parents, seated behind her in the courtroom, and mouthed, "I love you."
Hilton was taken to a treatment center at the downtown Twin Towers jail for medical and psychiatric examination to determine which facility she will be held in, said sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.
"She'll be there for at least a couple of days," he said.
Despite being ordered to serve the remainder of her original 45-day sentence, Hilton could still be released early. Inmates are given a day off their terms for every four days of good behavior, and her days in home detention counted as time served.
Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer was calm but apparently irked by Sheriff Lee Baca's decision to release Hilton three days into her sentence due to an unspecified "medical condition."
"I at no time condoned the actions of the sheriff and at no time told him I approved the actions," Sauer said. "At no time did I approve the defendant being released from custody to her home."
The hearing was requested by the city attorney's office, which had prosecuted Hilton and wanted Baca held in contempt for releasing Hilton despite Sauer's express order that she must serve her time in jail.

The judge took no action on the contempt request.
A member of the county counsel's staff said Baca was willing to come to court with medical personnel. The judge did not take him up on the offer.
Assistant City Attorney Dan F. Jeffries argued that Hilton's incarceration was purely up to the judge. "Her release after only three days erodes confidence in the judicial system," he said.
Hilton's attorney, Richard Hutton, implored the judge to order a hearing in his chambers to hear testimony about Hilton's medical condition before making a decision. The judge did not respond to that suggestion.
Another of her attorneys, Steve Levine, said, "The sheriff has determined that because of her medical situation, (jail) is a dangerous place for her."
"The court's role here is to let the Sheriff's Department run the jail," he said.
The judge interrupted several times to say that he had received a call last Wednesday from an undersheriff informing him that Hilton had a medical condition and that he would submit papers to the judge to consider. He said the papers never arrived.
Every few minutes, the judge would interrupt proceedings, state the time on the clock, and note that the papers still had not arrived.
He also noted that he had heard that a private psychiatrist visited Hilton in jail, and he wondered if that person played a role in deciding her medical needs.
The last attorney to speak was another deputy city attorney, David Bozanich, who declared, "This is a simple case. There was a court. The Sheriff's Department chose to violate that order. There is no ambiguity."
Hilton's twisted jailhouse saga began Sept. 7, when she failed a sobriety test after police saw her weaving down a street in her Mercedes-Benz on what she said was a late-night hamburger run.
She pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to 36 months' probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines. In the months that followed she was stopped twice while driving on a suspended license. The second stop landed her in Sauer's courtroom.
Back before Sauer on Friday, Hilton's entire body trembled as the final pitch was made for her further incarceration. She clutched a ball of tissue and tears ran down her face.
Seconds later, the judge announced his decision: "The defendant is remanded to county jail to serve the remainder of her 45-day sentence. This order is forthwith."
Hilton screamed.
Eight deputies immediately ordered all spectators out of the courtroom. Hilton's mother, Kathy, threw her arms around her husband, Rick, and sobbed uncontrollably.
Deputies escorted Hilton out of the room, holding each of her arms as she looked back.

Best news I heard all day that Paris Hilton is back in jail...right where she belongs...

I heard that the courtcase was being held to decide her fate but not this last bit of info, thanks for that BBB.
Maybe will make her realise $$ can't take care of everything, mum and dad have a lot to answer for.

What medical condition? the Hollywood Skin and Bones diet?

Out of the frying pan and into the fire Paris!

I kept thinking she was going to make a reality show out of her jail time. Paris goes to camp, Paris goes to jail, etc....

I am also glad the little darling is back where she belongs..and..that something needs to be done about the Sheriff...wonder how he would have felt if her driving killed someone in his family...would he still be so willing to let her go home....heard he wanted to keep the jail "peaceful" ....all he did was stir up a lot of bad feelings there and everywhere else.....

The sheriff said on television that the medical condition was mental. My question is, whether she is famous or not, why would anyone send somebody who is so mentally unstable that she is unable to stay in a jail, where there is a hospital? He sent her home, alone! What if she had killed herself? (Assuming I really believed that her condition was so bad, mentally, that she couldn't be kept in jail.)

Bottom line. If her mental condition was so bad that the sheriff said that he didn't know how to treat it, he should have told Paris Hilton that if she is really that emotionally ill, they would have to put her in a locked mental facility for a mandatory 72 hours for observation and assessment to determine what to do next. Everywhere in the US, that I am aware of, or at least what I was taught, time spent at the hospital can NOT be counted toward your sentence and NOR can it be considered toward good time if you are allowed to get out early for good behavior.

I found out who the Darling Family is.....ABC used the endless publicity surronding the Paris Hilton case to promote its new tv show, "Dirty Sexy Money" about a fictional family the Darlings....They had the banner flying and also ABC has taken out full page adds in many newspapers......What kind of message is this sending to our younger kids?? I also read that the Hollywood stars are not sticking by Paris.......
