Online Safety Suggestion

Many of you know that your IP adress can give out a lot of detail. For example it can say what city you live in and in some cases, what neighborhood you live in and even the name of your ISP company.
Just to give you an idea of what I mean click here
I'm a bit paranoid about safety so I have been trying out something called tor over the past 9 months. What it does is hide your location. It can make you show up in Germany when you are in the US etc.
Anyways it's free and not that hard to use for those that are interested.

Osaka, I just discovered this thread. My goodness! I knew my IP address could reveal a lot about me, but I didn't know how easy it was! Thanks for the information!!! I can't wait to go back to Texas and use the 1 ISPs to see what they show about me.

It shows my location as not being correct. Close enough, though.

That is so scary!!!

Meg, one way is to click onto that first link. It will give you your IP address, country, state, town, etc...

I looked up the one I had in the first place that I lived in Texas and it shows Missouri! Go figure.

It is funny. When I hook up to my personal Internet service, it shows that I am located in Odessa, Texas. When I switch to the company that is furnished by my RV park, it shows that I am in Midland, Texas. I bet it goes by the ISP company.
