Big Grin Lunar Eclipse Tonight!

Tonight is the total eclipse of the moon. Here is the link to the page, it will tell you what time it begins and ends depending on where you live. www.SkyTonight.com I am very excited about it tonight it is supposed to start raining about 3 and snowing at 9 tonight but hopefully the clouds will be sparse about the time it begins. My son who is 8 is so into astronomy right now and the weather I think this will be very fun to do with him. My girls 4 and 5 are too, though the really don't understand what is going on so I am going to research it as much as possible and have a little "class" before hand to get them up to speed and hopefully the will understand a little bit better. My son had missed a couple days of school in February from being ill so tonight me and him are going to work on a paper about the Lunar Eclipse and do a little project on it so he can take it to school on Monday and Hopefully maybe get some extra credit.
Again the website address is www.SkyTonight.com and they will have all the information about it and the times it can be viewed at. I didn't know if anybody elses kids were into this kind of thing but I hope if they are you guys have as much fun as we will tonight. I will post later and let you guys know how it went and maybe post some pictures if we can get any good ones. This is somthing that is definately frugal and will be sure to make good memories for years to come.

I am looking forward to seeing it. It is a beautiful clear night here in Southern England so we should be able to see it very well.

It's a great site, thanks for posting the link.

We've got clouds here so we probably won't get to see any of it.

Too many clouds thus far and the moon hasn't gotten above the mountains yet either. Oh well hopefully we'll get a sneak peak before it is over.

I know I saw it in the Farmer's Almanac last night, but I think we've got clouds here too. Will try again in a bit.

We got to see the last two minutes of it before it covered completely. It was way cool.

Unfortunately we did not get to see anything, it was wayyy to cloudy and very foggy. But we researched it earlier and I showed Jordyn (ds) stills of the Lunar Eclipse from 2003 and then the one in 2004 that happened during the world series. He was very satisfied with our findings and we still did a project and wrote a paper about how the lunar eclipse happens and so forth. There will be another one August 28 or 29 of this year and one in February next year so hopefully we will finally get to see it live in action. He is very excited to tell his fellow 3rd graders about how cool it looked (on the internet of course) and how it happens, I love doing these things with him and the girls and broadening his horizons on stuff I know he is not being exposed to in school. I hope somebody got to see it from here at least, let me know.
