NASCAR California (Fontana) race discussion thread.

Since tomorrow is qualifying and Sunday is the race, I thought I would start this thread for those who want to chat about the race or ask questions during the race. Go Bobby! I hope I make it home in time for qualifying, but I will definately be home and online during the race on Sunday!

For those who have TrackPass or have other ways to access Qualifying, it will be held at 3:10pm ET on Friday. Of course, we won't know the order until they have the draw in the morning.

DeBora, thanks for starting the thread, I will be out of town until probably 6 or 7 but cannot wait to get back and see how things went. I'm sending good luck vibes out for Bobby tommorow for ya, hopefully it will go off without a hitch and we won't see the same drama we did last week with all the violations. Until then......

April, NASCAR usually assigns penalties to several drivers at Daytona at the beginning of the year. I bet we don't hear much more for awhile. We usually don't hear about all the parts they confiscates every week. lol Thanks for the good vibes. Denny will do well with Makar being his team manager. I hope qualifying doesn't go too long as I have several errands to run before 4pm mountain time. Have a safe trip.

I was hoping Denny would do better at qualifying but hey 17 will work, I missed most of it , got to see the end. Oh well can't wait for some BOOGITY BOOGITY LETS GO RACING BOYS on Sunday. <----- Can you just feel the excitement? lol
DeBora how did Bobby's qualifying go? I saw he got 28th, did he have to qualify early? I always hate when Denny goes out early it seems like the track doesn't come to them until mid qualifying. Him and Denny should charge to the front pretty early. Now I have a Dodge to root for. yayyyyy

April, I am one of those who would rather hear fingernails grating across a chaulboard or slide down a razorblade and land in a bowl of alcohol than listen to DW! I actually mute the TV during that part. lol

I agree, both Denny and Bobby went out early so they got the heat that was on the track, which slowed them down. I am always praying that Bobby gets a late draw. I also wonder how much Bobby was more concerned about his race set-up than his qualifying set-up?

I am hoping Bobby does well. I don't know about Denny, but Bobby likes the faster tracks. He doesn't like the flater tracks like California as much as he loves Atlanta or rather Boblanta. I am hoping that he is working with Paul now, which I LOVE btw. He is always to upbeat and chearful and inspiring on the radio. I can NOT wait until Sunday!

Actually I am with ya on the DW front (it seems like he plugs anybody and everybody thats got anything to do with him or his brother and hardly mentions or comes down way to hard on everybody not in his "Golden Circle").
My daughter which turned 5 in November, doesn't watch the race shes into the whole Princess and Ballerina thing right now, anyhow we have our own room set up for the race, surround sound, computer monitors to watch Pit Command but when it first starts John turns it up real loud because our cat will sit there and meow at the cars that go by and he loves it, anyway she'll say Boogity Boogity real loud and then she says to her 8yr old brother and 4yr old stepsister we got to be good the race is on and the way some of them boys drives makes mommy crazy. And then they laugh and call me crazy lady all day, so thats what it reminds me of. The things kids come up with hehe.
Paul is Bobby's crew chief correct? I've been doing my homework reading up on him the past 2 days to better acquaint myself with your man. Oh well we only have to make it through tommorow and then we are golden. I cannot wait either.
Do you make any special "race day" snacks? I always try to make pepperoni and cheese rolls, or lil' smokies in bbq sauce in the crockpot to snack on. Just wondering if you had any recipes to share.

Sorry, yes, Paul Andrews is Bobby's crew chief. That man is so optimistic and keeps Bobby focused during the race.

I don't make any race day snacks as once the race starts, I am too nervous to eat! I try to eat a good breakfast before the race starts as I know that it may be 5 or more hours before I will eat again. However, I do have some snacks that I can share, depending on how quick and easy you want them.

I make Armadillo Eggs. I scrape the seeds out of jalapenos. Then, I fill them with cream cheese and then wrap them in bacon. I bake until hot and bubbly. What about using some of those smokies to make pigs in the blanket for the kids? I have an easy hot spinach and artichoke dip. You can look for some of the recipes on the www.momsmenu.com threads under Recipe Swaps and then under appetizers.

I am going to do my laundry early in the morning and try to dye my hair tomorrow so that I will be completely free for Sunday! I am ready for some racing!!!!

DeBora, are you watching them practicing on SPEED right now? I am getting so excited, it's killing me having to wait until tommorow! I guess the Busch race will have to do for tonight to keep me pacified until tommorow. They are qualifying for it at 3, I cannot find out if Denny is going to be in it right now or not, NASCAR's website is driving me crazy and I cannot find out yet, and his website is going through some changes sooooo, I guess I'll find out shortly. He ran double duty last year but is not doing a full schedule in Busch this year. I think he will most definately be in the Bristol and Martinsville Busch races he wants to win there so bad, and I want him to win also. I guess Bobby is getting his car worked on it shows he's only ran 2 laps in practice so hopefully he gets it right how he wants it and does good tommorow.
Thanks for the recipes, I get nervous too but always try to make sure the kids are set, my son is starting to get into the race and its nice to have somthing to share with him, he's in that stage where he would rather hang out with his stepfather because girls are no fun right now , he's always been a mommas boy so that was kinda hard at first but I'm glad him and his stepfather have a good relationship . Thanks again for the recipes.

Dangit Denny smacked the wall in turn 2 , but he's not worried about the damage, he's 6th fastest in practice right now . Mike Ford is working on it and him and Denny are just so great together. I'm glad Gibbs decided to let him stick with Denny.
