How to resize a picture using MAC?

Hi Everyone

I am looking for someone to explain to me how to resize a picture using MAC --Not Windows.

I would like to be able to post these directions here on FC so that our members can use the directions to resize their pictures for their profile pictures or signature lines.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
