I haven't been able to find much time to read lately so I'm still working on The Bonesetter's Daughter. I'm planning on reading the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer when I'm finished. DD's have all four of them. They also have The Host by this same author. I'd like to read that one too. It looks really good.

Kathy, I just read Twilight and really liked it. I loved the author's writing style. My dd has all the books so she is now going to lend me the second one. i wanted to read the first one before the movie comes out so I can go see the movie. (I always read the book before seeing the movie)

This week I read a fabulous book: Second Draft of My Life by Sara Lewis. I found this book on a remainder table at a bookshop. Sometimes I find the best stuff there! This book is about an author in her early 40s who decides to begin a new career as a teacher and also reinvents other areas of her life. It was a really excellent story.

I also read Where You Once Belonged by Kent Haruf, which was suspenseful because in the beginning of the book you learn that a certain character has done a very bad thing, but it's not until 3/4 of the way through the book that you find out what it is. I wasn't as impressed with that book though.

Jodi Picoult

Thanks for the recommendation, I will have to see if I can find it at our library.
Right now I am reading Summer of Fear by T. Jefferson Parker, I have never read a book by this author and I am not even sure I like it...I don't like the main character and it is just more graphic than I like. I may just ditch it and try something else...goodness knows I have quite a few books in my TBR pile.
Enjoy yours books, Ladies!

I think my favorite Jodi Picoult book was Harvesting the Heart. I have read most of her books. If you like her books, another author you might like is Elizabeth Berg.

Haven't had much time to read this week so am still plugging away at The Cure for Modern Life by Lisa Tucker

I have been on vacation and of course squeezed in some reading during that time.

I finished The No. 1 Ladies Dectective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith. It was a fun, light summer read and I would probably try another in the series.
I also read Cross by James Patterson. This book was much darker, but I like Patterson's books.
I also listened to a couple of children's books for work, including Mary Pope Osborne's Knights at Dawn from her Magic Treehouse series.
I noticed a large stack of new books waiting to be processed at the Library, so when I get back to work there should be a lot of new books ready to choose from.

Last night I finished Promise Not To Tell by Jennifer McMahon. OMG, the feeling of the evil spoken of in this book was so powerful. My DD picked up the book to look at it and I just about lost it. I did not want her to read it. The story was very well done, but the circumstances of the story were horrible. Kind of like a Lovely Bones type story.

I am reading Washington's Lady, by Nancy Moser. So far, it is wonderful. It is written from Martha Washington's point of view.
