My hubby and I have always enjoyed experiencing the arts. We have gone to see some concerts, musicals and theatrical perfomances in past and always had a good time. Some of my favorites are The Lion King, Mamma Mia, River Dance, and Great Big Sea. We have not taken in many lately so decided this was the year to make up and have date nights. This month we are going to see Just For Laughs. In November we are going to see the musical Movin Out, December the musical Aladin and March Hairspray. Has anyone seen any of these ???

Hi DebK,
We enjoy live performances too, but have not seen many. We did see River Dance and Phantom of the Opera. I took Meg's dd to see The Wizard of Oz.
Have seen Willie Nelson, Cliff Richard and Paul McCartney in concerts.
Will be interested to see how the new ones you'll go to are,

Lynne I took my kids to a production of Wizard of Oz. They really liked it. Di you enjoy river dance??? We loved and would go to see it again with the kids. How was phantom of the Opera???? I would have liked to see it and Cats and Les Miserables. Maybe some day. We have to go to Ottawa or Toronto to see most of the productions. We missed Stomp this year but hopefully it will be back next year and we will take the kids. I am most excited about seeing Movin Out. It has gotten good reviews and is all Billy Joel music.

Debbie, That sounds like wonderful fun! I wish that my husband was more into the arts. I remember his Mom telling me that she once took him ( he was an older teen) and his brother, along with their Dad to a theatre show but instead of my DH watching the show, he had his headsets on listening to the Syracuse basketball game She said that she confiscated the headsets but it really didnt help much.
Do you know that in the 10yrs that we have been together, we have never gone to a movie theatre! He cannot sit still that long and would drive me nuts so I figure that was just easier renting movies at home. I am happy that he is getting better at sitting more the older he gets....lol!
I have always wanted to see Cats and the Phantom of the Opera too.
Enjoy yourself and your time with alone with your hubby!

Tami when mike and I first met he was not thrilled to go to some of the things I suggested but since i enjoy them he agreed to go and has since found he enjoys them. One year for my annicersary he took me to see Stars On Ice. I skated for years and figure skating is a passion for me. That year was the final tour with Scott Hamilton. We had front row ice seats. I know mike was not thrilled with going but afterwards he said he was amazed at how athletic the skaters were and how short!! LOL I enjoyed myself and got to shake hands with many skaters!!!

I volunteered as an usher for our local theater that had live plays. After we married dh did it with me. We both loved watching the different plays. I also did it for the theater that had national rotating plays such as Cats, Phantom of the Opera, etc. After the kids it became to hard to do but may have to try again as they are older.
My mother still has two tickets and I will sometimes go with her. She bought an extra one and she, dd and I saw Little Women.
I have seen Lion King, Hairspray, River Dance and many others along with Cats and Phantom.
We are taking the Girl Scouts, in November to see High School Musical. It is put on by a local group as part of Festival of the Arts, a day of different art forms to introduce the girls to.

My husband and I both love going to concerts, plays and the theater but due to finances we don't get to attend many big productions. I do go to concerts a couple times a year and try to attend local plays as often as I can as well as out to hear local musicians. I think the two best theater productions I ever saw were Les Miserable and Phantom of the Opera both which we saw at the Wang Center in Boston years ago.
Robin I think I would really enjoy a job like that.
Sammi money has been an issue with us to. We just decided that this year we deserved to go and enjoy the plays. We bought a theatre package so it was reduced some. Next week we go to Just for laughs. It is suppossed to be done like a Who's line is it anyway? We are 5 rows from the front. Should be fun!!!

Debbie, that sounds like fun. Comedies are especially fun to go to. I do try to get to the local theaters when I get the chance. But I wish some of them would stop doing Annie or The Sound of Music or Little Shop of Horrors and try something new as there are so many wonderful plays out there!
I love going to things like this! My ex was not into it so we rarely went to cultural events. As a single person, it's rare that I come across a man who likes these things. They're 'outdoor' types... *sigh* So, I go by myself or take my teenage nieces with me.
