Mentors

Who encourages you the most in your life and why?

Which mentors/confidants (dead or alive) do you wish you had access to in your life?

The friend who, in the past, has encouraged me the most is my friend Eileen.. She lives in Illinois and I miss her friendship so very much. I wish she was still in my geographical life.
I had a wonderful counselor once who I miss tons. Her name is Jackie and she lives in Colorado now. She was in my life exactly when I needed her!

I would love to know Iyanla Van Zant. She is so inspiring to me. She is a life coach on the TV show, 'Starting Over."
Also an author and I have read most her books.

And then I would love if all of my FC friends lived all on the same block! We wouldn't need this computer for writing we would hang out on the porch, drink lemonade, scrapbook, watch one anothers kids to give us time with our hubbies and be encouragers to one another!!

hugs, train

My grandma (I called her mamaw) she died two years ago of cancer. But she was awesome. I don't know who or what I would be without her. I miss her advice most of all. She was always there for me.

In the past, it was my Nana (grandmother) and currently my DH is my biggest supporter.

Mentors for me come in all roads of life. My mother is the biggest guideline giver. A lot of trouble would have been saved IF I had listened to her wisdom and tried to incorporate it into my life.

My brother is my biggest encourager. He simply says, "You always come out okay."

My husband is good for helping me learn new ways of doing things that my own family was clueless on. And my two dds know me well so they give good insights.

I have a counselor (after the cancer) that provides a wise reflection, a living mirror, acceptor.

I have had many good close girlfriends, of all the things we have the most it is LAUGHTER!

The school library provided a lot of good reference materials for me on how to communicate with my girls/children. So that was good mentoring (along with all the teacher classes we take).

And of course, there is the living Bible and its teachings through the Holy Spirit, perhaps the best coach of all.

chuckle Another wonderful question.

I have a list of influential people that I know have helped guide my life or helped me make better choices. A lot of them are Christian authors, speakers, etc. but there are certain people I would love to have met and sat down and talked with, and one of them would be, Corrie Ten Boom.

The leaders and influential people, have been Joyce Meyer, Lisa Bevere, etc. and when it comes to finances, Suze Orman, Robert Kiyosaki, and more.

Great questions.

Lita

Hard to say I have been blessed with several over the years starting with my beloved G-Mom that we called Mama she always had faith in me and to this day I miss her terribly and am a great g-mom in my own right.
Then there was Sr Mary Consolata of the Sr's of Mercy she was my 1st and 2nd grade teacher in Alabama, we stayed in contact all thro' the years despite moves for both of us.
Then of course Mom always thought would be "something" not sure about that one.
And last of all my friends Catherine and Susie and my foster daughter Stacie all believe in me and our biggest common denomonater (sp) is laughter. I thank God for them in my life
Likewise there are some here on FC that are always encouraging me

Like Patti, there have been many, but I would have to say my Mom. No matter how bad she feels, or how good, on the outside you would never know the difference. Even if she doesn't fully agree on some issues she respects the other person's opinion- never a negative word. She has been through so much and been hurt over the years but is strong. She is just the greatest. I am thankful for every life lesson she has ever shown to me- and for everyday that I have her in my life. I will continue to accept her lessons with an open heart.
