I love computer tips!

If you have any easy tips, let's post them here..

My favorite tip is making the ºdegree mark.

To make º...it is easy.

Hold down your alt key...and in your numberblock...type 1-6-7

So it is 18 º here at my house today.

Now for some funny computer terms.

ComputerTerms

586: The average IQ needed to understand a PC.

State-of-the-art: Any computer you can't afford.

Obsolete: Any computer you own.

Microsecond: The time it takes for your state-of-the-art computer to become obsolete.

Syntax Error: Walking into a computer store and saying, "Hi, I want to buy a computer and money is no object."

Hard Drive: The sales technique employed by computer salesmen, especially after a Syntax Error.

GUI (pronounced "gooey"): What your computer becomes after spilling your pop on it.

Keyboard: The standard way to generate computer errors.

Mouse: An advanced input device to make computer errors easier to generate.

Floppy: The state of your wallet after purchasing a computer.

Portable Computer: A device invented to force businessmen to work at home, on vacation, and on business trips.

Disk Crash: A typical computer response to any critical deadline.

System Update: A quick method of trashing ALL of your software.

To make icons in your taskbar bigger, just right-click a blank area on the Quick Launch part (LH side where the programs are) of the Taskbar and select View, Large Icons.

That'll turn your baby icons into grownups

This may be something everyone knows, but I do this alot & it is very helpful to me.. When I have something I need to copy- I highlight it then hold down the control c button. You can then place this where you want it by pressing control v. I do this alot when entering passwords by moving them from my inbox folder. Merrry Christmas!

The shortcut is Alt 171--½

I love this new shortcut-thanks. I used to write out the word degress.

Great ideas. I like the cocmputer terms. One I learned from a student was when you want to highlight everything on a page, press ctrl A and everything will be highlighted. Then you can print it or copy and past it. It's much faster than going through the taskbar.
