Do you text message on your cell phone?

If yes, how often?

With whom?

I have text messaging available, but I've never used it. A co-worker/friend messages me often, but I always reply with a phone call!!

Check your plan before using text mess. You can receive without being charged but when you send one can charge for each text. You can have a flat rate that would cover how many you would want to use in a month. DS found out the hard way that it can add up.

I use to not be into it either but it's a great way to communicate with someone when you have to get a message to them and you don't want to disturb others with a ringing phone. For example: when my husband was in class and I needed to get a message to him and yet didn't know for sure when he would be in between classes, I could text him and it wouldn't disturb anyone.

It is also my oldest son's favorite way to communicate with me and I'll take whatever I can get, so I learned how to text. It takes me a while but I get the job done. He has texted me several times just to say, "love ya, mom," and that has been a huge bonus to all of this.

I can receive text messages but not send them. I receive one every month from Cricket reminding me to pay my bill. I receive a text from my oldest dd when she wants to tell me somethiong but doesn' have time to call, and my son receives them from his friends. We share a cell phone.

Okay....now I want to learn to text message!!

You made me realize that it would be a great way to tell DD things! She works nights and sleeps til about 2:30 after working. Since she got married and moved out, I could use it to tell her something that I am afraid that I'll forget to call and tell her when she gets up.

Now I just have to figure out how do it!!!

I do text messages but usually to just say to friends, do you have some free time, they know me well enough to then ring me (or text me) and then a phone call ensues between us to work out the details.
My 15yo has mobile phone (he bought himself and pays for his charge card out of his pocket money) and texting is great if plans for the day change, or he is held up at music practice after school etc.
With my text/phone plan with the same provider (my sons) you get 120 characters/letters very cheaply, it's when different providers have to interact that prices can vary greatly.

We have a Cingular cell phone plan and they charge to send text messages. We have a plan where you can send 25 messages a month for $2.99. I'm the only one who uses it in our house. I use it to contact my DH at work if I need to.

You can go to the Cingular website and send a text message to the phone of your choice. It's really easy. Most of the time the message will show up pretty fast but there have been instances where the messages hasn't showed up for several hours.

We just got our cell phone bill. I had texted or received texts a total of 183 times. At 5 cents each that came to $9.15. Of the 183 texts, 160 of them were with my son. I am not willing to give up communication with my son (this is the one that is living on his own and that I don't get to see very often). For some reason, it is easier for him to text me then to call me. Whatever works is good for me.

We just switched my phone over to where I can text or receive texts totalling 400 for $4.99 a month.
