My initial response is that I would have never divorced (1968) from my first husband! But then, I would have missed living in Alaska for 32 years, and some other significant experiences, so, in retrospect, I've been pretty content with my life.
Another area of regret was missing college, BUT... after an early retirment in my career, I attended college for two years and earned my Associate of Arts degree! I continued classes (several INTERESTING art classes!), and was working toward my Bachelor of Arts/Performance Piano, when I set that aside to raise my baby granddaughter (age 2-18 months)... I mildly regret not finishing, except that I had numerous hinderances (would have had to relocate, cope with higher tuition rates, etc.), so it was perfect timing for me to take over the care of Little Miss Jessica, an experience I'll always treasure! Also, at my age (64) now, I'm 'at peace' concerning my education... I could have easily been a life-long perpetual student if finances had allowed! Ha! But I've found ways to continually 'learn' and life is good!
May I comment? Your answers here are priceless... I can relate to more than just the marriage and education issues. I guess I just want to ENCOURAGE each one of you that maybe there IS almost always a way to overcome your regrets and to fulfill your dreams! Life happens, and some of it isn't good, but in my experience, I have discovered that God can change things around in the worst of circumstances and make good things happen! Most certainly He has provided CONTENTMENT for me in all things!
Interesting topic!
