Birthday Suprises!!

Friday September 2 was my daughters Birthday!! She was turning 12 yrs old.. I could hardly believe it had been that long, wow was she growing up! I mean I knew she was and was maturing and all that, but WOW..12! She was growing up right before my eyes. And at that age where you dont send in treats and snacks, do u?.. You dont buy the things you were so used to buying anymore, cuz now she seemed too old or didnt like them anymore!
So the big thing now was WHAT DO WE DO TO MAKE IT SPECIAL?? Well, I figured it out!! SUPRISE!!
Her bday was on the 2nd *which fell on a friday this yr*WOOO!
So I called the school-I had planned on decorating her locker, hoomroom desk, and slipping a lil note and lil gift in each teachers box to give her at on her desk before class begun...BUT that DIDNT happen. Principal said NO! He said all i could do is go eat lunch with her and a friend or 2 in the BIG study hall room. I started out with the morning-I had a little bag with a pink bear in it and I put a body spray, headband and Princess Neclace in it!! She found that and put her neclace and headband on- then I got my other plans in progress-but due to time i had to skip the balloon part. *which would of been buying a Happy Bday balloon and putting a weight of a cupcake with a candle on it. The night before I found out what the 2 friends liked from McDonalds and wrote it down. I also had my daughter ask what flavor was thier fave-and I got them each a mini bottle of pop! She had a sleepover planned for the 2 girls to stay the night-sleepover party! So they thought it was for that!
I took her and her 2 best friends McDonalds for lunch and we got to sit in the Big study hall room and eat and spend the whole lunch period together. It was nice! She was REALLY suprised and happy. She got called to the office and there I was standing-her whole face lit up and I told her that I was there for lunch-which I was about 8 mins late, thanks to the bank! so they had already started eating but I told her to go get her 2 friends cuz I had Mcdonalds and we were going to eat in room 100!!! She was so excited, she got the girls and then were too. It was really nice to actually spend a lil of the day with her at school-and I know it made her feel special too! I even called our fave radio station and did a "shout out" to her for her bday!! she really liked that! She heard her name and was like HUH!!!?? lol
It was really nice and my goal was accomplished--making her feel very special on her day!! <3

My ds2, he was 12 in feb this year.
You're right it is hard to figure out something special to do for them, as if they are younger siblings they're sort of older in mind I think, but still like little kids stuff.
We did a sleep over, the kids arrived here, 3 friends (as they could fit in our car all together) hubby took them 10 pin bowling, we went to the beach and I brought pizza drinks and cake, they had a ball! Came home played a bit (multi gameboys, PS2 etc) They picked a movie and slept in the lounge room watching video clips. I was told it was one of the best partys to have been to.
I guess your daughter is 18mth older now, how is she going with her next party plans?
