"In The Cut" Starring Meg Ryan (I was so shocked!)
Okay, Maybe Im a little "prudish" but DH and I watched the unrated
version of In The Cut with Meg Ryan and Mark Ruffalo (also Kevin Bacon and Jennifer Jason Leigh) . All I can say is Im glad we were at home alone watching this!! I love Meg Ryan, and never expected the "explicit" sex and sexual situations in this film not to mention the gore and the blood. It's supposed to be a psychological thriller. I like those kind of movies but this was really pretty "raw". Any one else see this? I'm not too sure if it was the unrated version in the theatre or not, and there is 2 DVDs out -unrated and rated R but it should be X in my opinion!

in the cut -Meg Ryan movie
Wow! I know that I would have been disappointed. But, I have to say I stay away from movies that are R anyway; and, I am wary of 'unrated' movies. I love Meg Ryan but I like movies that are upbeat. comedys, chick flicks, etc. I go to be entertained, not assaulted, scared, embarrassed, etc.
A friend and I went on a girls night out to a movie that was PG13.(a sci-fi thing) BOY, that was a BIG mistake. It should have been XX. after about 5 min. we looked at each other, nodded toward the door and asked for a refund ---and got it.
I think we have become desensitized to a LOT of things, and so the movie-makers have farther to go to "push the limit" as the saying goes. I mean, in 1939, people were scandalized when Rhett Butler said "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!" in GONE WITH THE WIND. Now there's more swearing in a movie's opening credits!
I remember an episode of Gunsmoke (I think) when two of the characters were talking about a woman's skirt being so short that her ankle showed. *gasp* Nowadays, we're lucky if any bit of female anatomy is covered.
I used to really like watching the show "OZ" on HBO, the one about the prison? Granted it was cable, but I just didint' have the same affinity for it after the episode where they showed a totally nude man (in solitary).
JMO, ladies.

meg ryan movie
I know what you mean about the movies getting worse. The thing is it isn't just movies. LOOK at the commercials. Victoria Secret commercials look like porn movies...all they need is the pole to dance with, more naked now then in the 80's even. And they don't care when they show them. Look at some of the cartoon directed at children. Same thing!!!
We are down to basic cable. And still have to monitor heavily. We have become a house full of readers. Put our kid in sports 3/4 of the year (with practice 2X per week), and gave her an old computer to do graphics on. With church on Sundays, Wednesdays, homeschooling out days of friday, etc. we don't miss it. I had to give up a lot of things I like -food tv, HGTV, etc. But, I won't pay someone to corrupt my child.
I feel I'm about to fall off my soap box. Gotta run.

Oh Sandie, please say it ain't so! I LOVE Meg Ryan and think she is a terrific actress. I love psychological thrillers, but will this just ruin it for me as a Meg Ryan fan?
I am such a HUGE movie buff. Of course, now that school has started, I probably won't get to watch many movies, if any, until the semester is over. Now that my children are grown, I am not as picky about the rating of the movies that I watch. However, I definately want the movie and every scene to be related to the story. Sometimes they will add blood and gore and/or sex that isn't in the original script so get a higher rating, which in turn bring in a larger audience and make them more money.
The way that tv and the movies are going now I don't care to watch anything. The soaps are bad enough now and seem to be getting worse. I am wondering what the future holds unless something happens to stop this. It is very embarrassing to watch. Even if it is a good movie the language is bad.
I did watch the movie & was thankful that I was alone!!! YIKES!!! I love suspense but really could do without the explicit sex scenes. I don't believe that it was one of Meg's best. Normally I stay away from anything that is R & I believe that this should have been X. I did finish the movie to see how it ended but was quite disappointed with the whole thing. She seemed like she was very "free" with her body & she didn't really know the person she was with. I don't understand why they have to put the sex stuff into what could have otherwise been an OK movie. I also don't know why they have to be so graphic with the gore stuff - I won't get into it but the bathroom scene was sickening. I don't even know why they even put Ratings on the movies as everything is acceptable anymore, even on regular tv. I shudder to think how it's going to be when my children are grown & have children of their own. Just my thoughts on the matter.
No I haven't seen it -- I havent even heard of it! How old is it? I will remember not to rent but I do love her except for what she did to Dennis Quaid
Its a 2004 (or maybe 2003) movie, and I remeber hearing things from movie critics when it came out in the theatres, but I dont pay much attention to them anyhow, because alot of times they say bad things about movies dh and I like. Meg Ryan is way too good to have lowered herself to doing this movie, its running now on one of the cable movie channels, I think its Starz or showtime, but they certainly do not cut anything out of it! Yes the gorry bathroom scene when she found her sister was just that GORY, I think the most shocked I was, was when she was in the bar hiding behind the door watching the guy and the woman, on the kind of cable box we have you can rewind just like if it is a movie and I had to rewind it twice to make sure it was what I thought it was of course dh ,even though he thought it was "way raunchy" had to laugh at me trying to figure it out.Like I said Im glad it was just the 2 of us, I think I would have walked out if it was a theatre.I dont know I think there might be a tie for that "Prude award,LOL!!

I actually really wanted to see this but haven't had a chance. I'm a huge Meg Ryan fan, but this is unlike her other movies. I think she wanted to get away from always playing the good girl romantic type. I don't think it got very good reviews.
