Help! Question about wireless!

I am moving in August or sooner. Anyway, I am looking for a new ISP. Someone told me that I might be able to get Internet even while I am in a car! Of course, not while I am driving. It would be nice to be able to get Internet service while I am in one city and when I am back here, 3 1/2 hour drive away, be able to still get the same service so that I can do research and other stuff. (I am a full-time college student.)

I would love to hear people's insite as to suggestions. We are planning to get 2 cell phones instead of 2 reg phones because it is cheaper. I can talk to DH for free all the time and nights and weekends I can talk to everyone I want. I am trying to save money as much as possible. Thanks!

DeBora , I know absolutely NOTHING about this subject but I read an article about this and security issues this morning. You might want to read this article.

Thanks Abear. Excellant article. THere are what I have heard as "hot spots" where a person doesn't need a password. But I didn't know that it was illegal to use it! Recently we had to stay at a motel and they had wireless and I didn't need an access code. The place where I am moving to told me that a gentleman told them that he accessed wireless from the motel down the street, so there's must reach that far! I don't want to steal someone else's. But, I am wondering if wireless would be cheaper than getting a telephone line AND an ISP!

Anybody who has wireless or experience and their advice would be helpful.

Debora - if you have a telephone, you already have a phone line! My ol' curmudgeon (a computer professional) won't have wireless in the house because of the security problems. He says in about 5 years, when the main security issues are taken care of, we might do that. In the meantime, the entire house is wired and we have 8 computers networked (we both work from home).
We have cable, and use the cable service for our ISP. Since we need the connection for work, we can deduct the cost from our income tax.

If you make any money from your computer, the connection can be a business expense. If so, you might want to talk to your CPA about it.

Cheerio!

The problem is that when I move won't have phone lines. So, I'm shopping around for something for my little 5th wheel that I'll be living in.
