First, it depends on the computer you have. Second, are you talking about RAM memory, or increasing the memory size of your hard drive? What I would do is write down the specs and go to a computer place like Best Buy, CompUSA, or Circuit City (or even a local computer guy) and ask them if it can be done, cost, etc. A novice can add RAM themselves. Even a somewhat technically savvy person can install a hard drive, although it's a bit more daunting. I've done both with success. If you can't do it, I think Best Buy will do it for free if you buy the components there. A salesperson there told me that the sign says they charge, but if you buy the stuff from them they will do it for free if you ask. It may vary from store to store, however. I hope this helps.
