for the granddaughter we just took her out for her one of her
f avorite treats and let her know we were proud of her. Of course she just grad. from Kindergarter... another book to for her wouldn't mean much for she is always getting books... she has almost too many now... and I do believe books are very important.
whenever we go to garage sales, we are always picking up books for her, along with half book and some books that I had here from ther momma when she was a little girl.

In fact both girls grew up with books and they love to get thier books and look at them.

We take them in the car, we take them to the doc offices, to keep them entertain...

So to make her day more special we treated her to her favorite meal and dessert.

I was looking for something on the web and discover that today
trivia was pretty interesting: Therefore I will share with you

1884 - 1st roller coaster begins operating (Coney Island)
1893 - R.W. Rueckheim invents Cracker Jacks
1903 - Pepsi Cola company forms

Connie, You are in my prayers. I hope this evening is better than today.

Bar_Bar, What a wonderful grandmother you are! You made her day special. And that is what she will remember...that she feels loved, safe, and special whenever she is with you.

Patti, You, Joe, and Adam will continue in my prayers. For healing, for peace, and for comfort.

Jennifer finishes her writing camp tomorow. The kids will have a reading for the parents. She has had a blast. She says she wants to do this camp again and would recommend it to "anyone who likes to write."

Jamie and I did a little clothes shopping. We drove up to the outlet stores and bought shorts for everyone (Jen was down to two almost worn out pairs), capris and a blouse for Jen. Jamie was an angel while we shopped so when he asked for a Bass Pro Shops cap, I said yes. I am glad he likes to wear caps to keep the sun out of his eyes and off his face. And after trying on shorts, I need to do some serious exercising to get rid of some of this baggage.

It was beautiful today and is supposed to be even prettier tomorrow. I have been walking in the mornings and it was so nice this morning with lower temps and lower humidity.

For anyone who likes to garden, you might appreciate this. There are beds at or close to the street along the routes that I walk. And in more than one, there are lots of weeds. Does anyone else ever have the urge to reach out and pull other peoples weeds?

Well, I am going to check the other threads. And then get ready for bed.

Later.

Debbie

Before dementia set in and she passed away, my grandmother used to walk for an hour in the morning and an hour in the early evenings. Alot of times, I'd walk with her and she'd stop and pull weeds from other people's flower beds...and instruct me to help her! She'd pull until she felt she'd better be on her way again to get her walking done. No one ever complained or came out to shoo us off!!

Donna (trainlady) - what, exactly, is a "swamp cooler"? What is the difference between it & a regular fan? I've seen them at Super Wal-Mart and can't see what the fuss (and extra $$) is all about!

Debbie (dinsky) glad to hear that Jennifer enjoyed her camp so much! Maybe you have a future award winning journalist or novelist on your hands!!!! How's her knees healing???

You mean Jamie could actually WALK to go shopping with you??? Or has he given up his acting career???

I have vowed to start walking at least 4 mornings a week starting tomorrow morning! Since we have a treadmill sitting smack dab in our living room, I have absolutely no excuse NOT to!
I went and weighed in at the doctor's office today...I lost 6 lbs in 9 days!! And that was without any serious exercise! While I am sure it was mostly water weight, I am thinking I could do so much better if I would buckle down and get serious about walking.

My CAT Scan results came back normal. While that is excellent, it is also frustrating. I KNOW that I am not imagining my pain & other symptoms!! (the pain woke me up in the middle of the night last night and kept me up for over two hours!) So, my doctor told me to make an appt to come in and discuss what we'll do next. Since I had to take FIL to an appt with his hemo-oncologist yesterday and then to an appt with his cardiologist today, I didn't get an appt with her until next Tuesday afternoon.

I need to go check on laundry and drink a bottle of water. With taking FIL to his appt and it taking SOOOO long, I am behind on my water consumption for today.

Hope everyone else is doing okay...if I missed anyone, I am sincerely sorry & it is not intentional.

Have a good evening everyone.

Everywhere I go and see these weeds trying to take over I casually take out my gloves and clippers and go to town pulling these dreaded weeds from wherever they are. Ask sweetmaggie she will say I was going to do that I say oh well I have done it for you. she then just grins at me. LOL

Abear, Thanks for asking about Jen. Her knees are healing very well. Tonight we were able to put one of those big elbow/knee bandaids on her right knee as opposed to the pads and gauze wraps. The left knee is down to a large bandaid. (Nexcare not the Bandaid brand...I have to give due). You can still see where all of the abrasions were...the right measured approximately ten inches by six inches with the worst area a three inch diameter circle that went to the tendon of her knee. Once everything is well healed, we will start some massage to improve the mobility of the tendon and increase her range of motion. She is thrilled will how things are going.

As far as Jamie goes, his acting career was put on the back burner today. Outdoor World/Bass Pro Shop (I think that is the whole name) has a HUGE fish tank with waterfall and fake rocks. That provided incentive to walk around the store. My folks asked about the day and all he could talk about was seeing the huge catfish, "The biggest I've ever seen!", the waterfall, the rocks, and all of the fishing rods. AndbythewaycanIgofishingsoon,PLEEEASE? All without breathing. We stopped at my folks on the way home so he was in hog heaven. (I need to stop because I have more Jamie/Jennifer stories than anybody wants to hear.)

By the way, I tried to quote and failed miserably. I am technologically inept so would someone walk me through it...again.

I am trying to walk every morning as part of the rehab/recovery process. It is working. Hopefully, by this time next year I will be writing about running. That, along with losing this weight that I put on over the past nine years, is my ultimate goal. In college, I ran, swam, and biked triathlon distances (never competed though). I am much older now but would like to be able to run and bike something close to those distances again. Swimming, maybe. I'm getting there.

Glad you CAT scan results came back normal but wish the doctor had something for you. I will keep you in my prayers.

Barbszy, We have a demolition date for the convention center...June 26. And they are asking that people not come out to see it. Oh, well.

I am going to scoot to check the rest of my email

Later.

Debbie

Yes at times I want to pull other peoples weeds!

So far tonight is worse.... it is husband. I have emailed his counselor to see if we need to put him in the hospital. He is manic again. I simply can not take this anymore. The stress is too much for me. The kids go into thier rooms and hide. Something has to change and soon. If it comes to a divorce, I will have to leave. I don't know anything but taking care of kids. I can not imagne not having a pool...... there is a appt building in town that has its' own pool. I will check into that. Dh is falling apart due to his mom.... we have found out that our sons congenital heart defects come from MIL. After all the years of greif she gave me about 'causing' the defect, it came from her. She has some CHD we now know. I don't think dh can handle life and its ups and downs. Heck it could be worse, she could be dead. And the way FIL treats her, she will be in a few months. She will be put on a pedistal and surrounds by pillows to make her comfy..... others will cook and clean and she will set back happy as a lark since they love her so much. Noting has been said about preventing another heart attack.... AND she was coughing all day today and yesterday. That is how she had the heart attack Sat. Coughing real hard....... a silent heart attack is what they called it. Oh, did I tell you we found out Mond they moved her to a different hospital and 'forgot' to tell us? No wonder we couldn't get a hold of them.

Today I bought a yoga kit for dd. It had been $29 but was marked to $11! She has already used it too. She is falling in love with yoga and pilates and tia cha. I am so proud of her. I feel bad since I never feel proud of my oldest son or my husband. They cause me so much trouble....... does that mean I am a nasty person or just seriously stressed?
