Question Electronic Dictionary

I have a dictionary called "The American Heritage" it has over 70,000 entries. I am looking for something over this amount, preferably electronic dictionary. I checked some office supply store; and they have no clue what I was talking about. Any idea where I can get one?

Thanks.

I have been an English tutor for several years. (I am moving to a major university and am looking to do the same there.) Anyway, the English professors as well as my boss swear by Fraklin electonic dictionaries. They there own Web site as well as an 800 number. They will be glad to send you a free catalog too.

Here's the link to their site:
http://www.franklin.com/

I do not know if they have unabridged dictionary, but you can look through the site or call their 800 number. It is 1-800-266-5626. Most of the students that I have worked with have only been speaking English for a few years and they had Spanish/English electornic dictionaries.

God luck ya'll. Let me know what you found out.

What exactly is it that you are trying to find out about electronics? Is this for a school project? I work for a electronics firm and my dh is a electronic technician who may have some ideas. Our computer guy suggested "How Stuff Works.com". I will try to remember to ask my dh if there is something like a dictionary or tommorow one of our engineers.

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for or if you actually mean just a regular dictionary like you get in a palm pilot?

But heres where to get a actual electronics dictionary:

The New IEEE Standard dictionary of Electrical and Electronic Terms
Published By:

The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers
345 E 47th St New York, NY 10017-2394

It is very big so the shipping would be very expensive.

Hope this helps.

I just bought an unabridged dictionary and have over 300,000.00 entries.
A dictionary can have one entry with five definitions, what I need is more entry and more definitions as opposed to less entry more definitions. I already have an electronic dictionary but very limited. Book dictionaries are time consuming. I want to be able to read a story continuously without getting interrupted by words that I have never heard or seen before. Anybody here read the, “Color of the Water” by James McBride? The story is great, humorous and very true. I just finished it and have gathered well over 100 words that either I know how to use the word in a sentence, but will not be able to explain what the word really mean without having to say word again. (i.e. What is exclusionary?) My response would be just the same (It means exclusionary) but since I know what it means I can elaborate further that it means, “Any evidence that were acquired illegally will not be admissible.” Anyway, I am rumbling already. I need an electronic dictionary to keep up with the pace of my reading.

O.k. I see what your saying now... not electronic engineering terminology but a item that you can punch in words on.

A palm pilot either comes with the dictionary or can buy the card to load it in I think. One of the guys here showed me a electroncic (battery operated) organizer that has a dictionary in it also. I'd try the organizer it was less than $20.00 versus a palm pilot which can go for over $100 up to $300.

Also a Thesaurus might be helpful you can get those at any major dept. store such as Walmarts.

I finally bought one couple of days ago and am not very happy about it. I still had to double-check with my hard copy dictionary to make sure that the definitions are the same and is not. I read this comment on an article saying, best book to read if you want to learn is to read the most boring book. Do you agree on this, because I do.

What brand did you buy? I've used Franklin for tutoring and it has a spell-check and all the definitions, and everything.
