Are you connected to your cell phone?

Do you have your cell phone with you and turned on no matter where you are or are you like me, you only use it once in a while?

We have our cell phone so that my DH can take it with him to work --in case something would happen on the way to or from work or in case he needs to talk to me while he is working.

We are using it now as our main phone because we wont have a house phone until April 21.

Other than that, I dont carry it with me --although I probably will when I start driving around here because Im sure that I will get lost!

It seems like everyone now-a-days is attached to their cell phones. It drives me crazy when sitting in a restaurant and off goes a phone that is turned up entirely too loud, playing some whacky song. Then, to top it off, the person answering the phone continues their conversation on phone throughout the meal. While standing in line in Sheetz yesterday, the person in front of me, behind me and beside me, where ALL on cell phones!!
No one was paying attention and it took so long to get out of there.

What is the obsession with being connected to a phone all of the time?

Dont get me wrong, I know that there are times when a phone is needed, but........

Does anyone else feel this way?

I would have to say that my cell phone is on all the time. I turn it off when everyone is home for the night. I keep it on at work in case of emergency. We call each others cell phones when we need to reach one another.

I have a cell phone only because of the two DS asthma..... if they have an attack at school, I wanted to make sure the school could reach me ASAP! Before I got the cell phone, the school would waste important time trying to track me down when one of the boys came into the office needing a nebulizer treatment sooner than the school was allowed to give them.

DH will call me on it to let me know when he is back on land after being off-shore on a job if he calls home first and gets no answer.

I seldom use it for anything else. I refuse to talk on it in restaurants...will walk outside. If I am in a store and DD or DH call me, I quickly tell them I will call them back when I get out to the parking lot.

Only a small handful of people (and that includes the school secretary and the two DS' teachers) even know my cell phone number!

I have a Nextel for work, we use the walkie talkie part a lot. I work computer tech and can be anywhere in the building so this way if someone else needs me they beep me and I go there next. My kids loved that part of it and bought themselves Nextels so now they beep me as well as each other. It is handy and driving 40 miles each way for work they make dh feel better knowing I can call if in trouble. cau

I almost always have my cell phone on me.
In restaurants and such it goes on vibrate. The only time it is off is if I am in a place that doesn't allow them. I have voice mail on it.

My cell phone is always with me. The kids' school has the number so if there is an emergency and I'm not home, they can find me.
I have a prepaid phone which costs me $25 every 3 months to refill with 100 minutes. Those roll over and I never use them all. It's nice to have them in case of a power outage or something when my regular phone would be out.
I do not use my cell for casual chat though I have been known to call home when I'm at a store to ask someone to check if there's milk in the fridge, or something like that.

I have a cell phone with me all the time, but usually it's turned off. I HATE being on a leash!

When I'm in town, I see people everywhere talking on those things. What do they all find to talk about????

VickyLynn you and I feel the same BUT I don't own one and will not own one. I refuse to be on an electronic leash NOT that there is anything wrong with one if a person wants/needs one. But I would never sit thro' a meal and yak on the phone IF I did have one

It's annoying to get charged to call someone on their cell phone. I don't have one but my son says telemarketers have called him on his cell ! When I'm in a restaurant or shopping I don't want to listen to someone talking loud enough for me to follow their conversation or worse yet arguing with one of their kids on the phone. But worst of all is driving with one hand and holding the phone with the other.

I have a cell phone but it is almost never on. I bought it for emergencies and use it to check on the kids when I am out or so they can call me if needed (I make sure I have it on when I know they may need to call me if I am out) but other than that I don't use it much at all. I cannot understand what could possibly be so important that someone has to talk on the phone when they are grocery shopping, shopping in a mall, driving down the highway, or walking down the street or even eating in a restaurant. It is so annoying to have to hear someone else's conversations. I guess that is just a pet peeve of mine. I think people have forgotten that before cell phones, we got along fine and sometimes it is just nice to get a break from technology and escape for a bit.
