For our first, I was set on Kayla Nicole for a girl. I wanted Donovan for a boy but DH wasnt happy with it. After searching for a while, he came up with Andrew and I added Jacob to it for a middle name.
For our daughter, I decided against Kayla this time because it was such a popular name. The name Alexis just stuck after I read it in a baby book. I stuck with Nicole for her middle name though.
My DD's name was picked out before her Dad & I got married! When we were dating, we were talking about his first two kids names.....he did not really care for his other DD's name. His ex was sneaky and filled out the birth certificate when he wasn't at the hospital. I asked him what he would have chosen. He said "either Stefanie or Michelle". So, I replied "well, you could go with Stefanie as the first name and Michelle as the middle name...Stefanie Michelle." He liked that! So, after we were married and got pregnant, we both knew we had a girl's name and needed only to agree on a boy's name. We never could agree on a boy's name. Good thing she was a girl or we would have gotten divorced over naming a boy! I'm glad we chose Stefanie as her first name because her Dad's name was Steven (he is deceased) and since Stefanie is the female "version" of his name, she thinks of that as a "forever link" to her Dad.
DS # 1 wasn't really a difficult decision either. The same day that I found out I was pregnant, they told also me it was a boy. I knew that DS was going to have my Dad's first name as his middle name since I never had any living brothers. So, we had to come up with a first name to go with Alfred as the middle name. DH's middle name is James.... DS' name is James Alfred.
By the time DS # 2 came along, I decided to give DH some giudelines and let him choose the name. Since DS # 1 had DH's middle name as his first name, I wanted DS # 2 to have the same initials as DH. So, DH had to choose a first name starting with "R" and a middle name starting with "J". DH enlisted the help of DD and together they came up with Randall Jeffrey....and I gladly agreed. If DS had been a girl, DH had chosen Rebecca Jacqueline.
For our first child we had picked Stephen Eric (Stephen is DH's name. He has no middle name but I wanted the baby to have one, so that on legal stuff it would be easy to tell them apart). I picked Eric because the names worked well together and because it was short! Our last name has 12 letters so we didn't want to overload things!
If he had been a girl he would have been Joanna Marie. We did give that name to DD when she was born. It honors my 2 grandmothers, Johanna and Mary, as well as DH's very special Aunt Joann.
If DD had been a boy she would have been Timothy Michael (I think! It's hard to remember, LOL!)
By the time we were expecting Luke we had decided that we'd rather name a boy Luke Michael. We were picking names on the way to the hospital this time! For a girl we had chosen Veronica after DH's great-aunt. I can't even remember what the middle name would have been or if we had even figured it out.
For my first child I had picked out Kayla. But, at that time everyone was naming their daughters Kayla. So I switched to Kimberly Jo. Had she been a boy she would have been Tyler Stephen.
For second child we had originally chose to name it after DH. Which would have been Matthew Joseph. But, when my brother passed away when I was 6 1/2 months pregnant. We chose to name the child after my brother. His name was Wilbur Kevin, but always went by Kevin W. So we chose Kevin Matthew for our child. That way it was named after both DH, and my brother. Good darn thing he wasn't a she, since we never even considered him being a her. She would be walking around with a boy name!!
Third child, DH decided that he liked the name Katie for a girl. So we chose Kaitlin Marie for a girl. Had she been a boy it would have been either Kristopher or Kurtis. Good thing she was a she or we would have been deciding on a name at birth.
Fourth child, we wanted another boy. It would have been Kurtis, as I broke down and let DH pick. But, she was a she and now her name is Karrie Marie.

When I was young, I always said I wanted to be someone...I guess I should have been more specific!
For our first child dh wanted Robert Gregory, Robert after himself and his dad, and Gregory after my dad. I had saw the name Evan in a baby book and I really liked that a lot. So we decided Evan Robert.
If Evan had been a girl her name would of been Megan Newton. Newton was my mothers middle name (family name)
Same if we had a girl the second time.
I hang my head low to admit I got the name Joshua from a tv show but I really liked it. Dh liked it as well and he chose the middle name of Ryan.

I have to laugh at that Leighann because you have no reason to hang your head!
Do you know how many boys were named Dylan after that character on Beverly Hills 90210?? LOTS! DH's niece named her oldest son Dylan after him, there is a boy in DS # 1's class that was named for the same reason.
My younger sister was named after a soap opera character that my Dad thought was hot!
