Sad Books

What is the saddest book you have ever read?

Dave Pelzer's books come to my mind..........."A Child Called It," "The Lost Boy," and "A Man Named Dave."
These bookks are so sad .....however........they also show just how much a human can overcome.

Though I have not read it, I hear "The Notebook" is a tearjerker.
This was made into a movie and is playing at our dollar theatre now.

hugs,train

Probably Angela's Ashes, even though it has some laugh out loud scenes.

I read a book called Goodnight Mr Tom when I was in highschool. It is a good book for teens to read but it is really sad with a good ending. I even reread it a couple of years ago. BB

A mighty Heart by Marrianne Pearl was very heavy but so sad as it follows her husbands capture by terrorists until she learns the truth that he was killed. I know there is now a movie being made and Angelina Jolie is playing her in it.

Hugs Debbie

Dana's Valley. I believe it is by Janette Oak's daughter which would be Laurel Oake Logan.

Well, this one springs to mind, quite easily, as I have not long finished it. Since I read it, my husband has read it and we both agree that it is a fantastic book. It is called "Lost for Words" and is by Deric Longden, and is set in England. It was both funny and sad - a good mixture. We all need both emotions engendered by humour and sadness. Lorraine
