What's the best Photo Printer??

Hi!! I could really use some help answering this question I am looking into purchasing a photo printer for my family, but I don't know much about them.

I found a list of printers on Staples site - http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Brows...2DOne+Machines They have a good list and I'm interested in:

Epson Stylus R200 Photo Printer
HP Photo 7760 Printer
Canon Pixma iP4000
or
Olympus P-10 Photo Printer

Do you know anything about these printers? Or do you have any other recommendations? The staples website helped a lot, but I also wanted to get your thoughts! Thanks so much for the help!!

I'm looking into a few printers myself. A few on that staples site caught my attention and were actually ones I had been looking at. I haven't quite decided what I want yet and I'm still shopping around, but we'll see. I think all of the printers you mentioned are probably pretty good quality. I'm leaning more to the HPs, but again, I'm still deciding.

I have had experience with several printers.. I do not have the model numbers available. However, I have always been an Epson supporter, probably because I was convinced the ink will last longer. Time will only tell.. and I still can't tell the difference.

My mother has always used HP printers she absolutely likes them. I tend to agree with her at this point. I own 4 EPSON printers and I have yet to have one that can print a 5x7 as clear as my mom's HP. Sometimes I think it must be her camera. I also own the HP 130 which is a 4x6 printer, and I really like the quality. The down side is it is only 4x6.

Personally, I have come to the conclusion it is cheaper to print quality pictures at a local warehouse store. But, nothing beats printing a picture at home and posting it on a bulletin board (the quality doesn't matter to kids) the same day.

My brother has used the Epsons for a while and he likes em. Also, mum, maybe I'll check out the one you listed. I'm getting to the point now where I know I want a good printer, but I also know it doesn't have to be flawless. I just want a good buy, too. Some of the ones on that site above seem like good buys. I want something reliable too.

Currently I am using the EPSON Stylus Photo RX500 it is an all in one. Scanner copier etc.. I seem to use up the black ink most often and like it because I can replace individual cartridges. I'll email my mom and find out what HP she has it does a really great job. Also, it is an older printer so you may find it discounted.

Just in case....

If you are ever in the market for a laser black and white printer...
You really can't beat the Brother 1240 or similar upgrades ( I think the one I have at work is the 1540) I have purchased two one for the office and one for home. The refills may seem costly, but on average compared with ink cartriges for a black and white page. I don't think you can beat it. There is a 3000 page and a 6000 page refill. The 6000 page is well worth the few extra dollars.

IMHO

Back again.. with new information

My mom has the HP 7550 at home. It does great pictures. She also replied there is a new model out now that accepts the digital media such as flash cards directly.

She is traveling and has purchased a R200 for the trip. She purchased it at Sams club for under $100; but she stated the ink looks expensive and take 4 cartridges. (I think the ink may be similar to my RX500.

I hope this helps.

Printer

I am currently using a Lexmark P3150. I think it prints great for under $100.

To all still interested in printers I noticed a couple were leaning towards HP's . I think HP's make the best printers. I have two photoprinters (regular printers) thats hold the cards from digital cameras. they put out wonderful pictures and my newest one takes the card and becomes the ready and pops up all the pictures on the card. The first printer will read the card too and print any picture off the card without a computer too. I like both and they are really dependable. HP also will update your drivers if need be, thats important too. I had a cannon and didn't like it. I have a cannon scanner tho which iI like really well. some companies have certain things that are better than other companies and I most of my family has HP printers. They are extremely dependable and the cartridges last forever because they are so big. I refill mine and I print tons of pictures that come out great. You also have to remember what type of paper you print them out on makes a difference. I have been doing digital photography and printing for family and scrapbooking now for more than 3 years. so I have tried many mediums to find what is best. Believe it or not the bright white papers make great pictures without the expense of photo paper and do just as good. This has been my experience.

Good luck

Carolyn
