I watched the debates and I sure didn't hear anything new! Just the sameo, sameo! Kerry sure didn't tell me what he was going to do to bring in more jobs, better the education system in this country, raise pay for the common worker, or anything else that is important to the common man. Neither did President Bush, I'm being fair here. However, I am about sick of the both of them rehashing Iraq! It's there, it's not going to go away, and Kerry is not going to make it go away if he is elected! I don't care what he says!

My understanding was that the debate was only to be about Iraq, and the other 2 will be about other topics, economy, jobs etc.

One thing I did find very interesting was the fact that Bush was hemming and hawing as if he didn't know how to answer the questions. His little smirks as if he is "holier than thou" have bugged me for 4 years. Now he has put me over the top !!!

Lets see how the VPs will do this tues.

Well, Kerry certainly didn't have a clear cut answer on what he was going to do about Iraq! But then, he would probably have a different answer next week.

I willl vote for President Bush! Yes, there have been over 1,000 lives lost in this war in Iraq. But, and this is a big one.....I also remember 9-11. I don't ever want another terrorist attack on this country as long as I live. I hate say it, but any man who would bad mouth his own comrades will not be a good leader of the free world! Everyone needs to remember this man not only bad mouthed his own comrades, he conviently forgot many of the statements he has made during this campaign regarding several incidents that he said he did and then he said "oh no I was wrong, I didn't do that? or worse...are ribbons medals, too? C'mon! He went before the Senate and claimed that his own fellow soldiers were committing heinous crimes! If you have never been associated with the military, then you have to know, you just flat out don't do this! You don't bad mouth your comrades in arms! I don't care what is going on. Not to mention, it was a WAR!

I have no respect for a man who has lied during his campaign! Check it out! It's public record! If he cannot get his stories straight while he's running for President, what makes me think he will tell me the truth when he is in office. Do I honestly believe I have been told the whole truth by President Bush, no! Do I want to know the whole truth about what is really going on in Iraq and Afghanistan? NO! I have a son who has fought in both countries, I don't need my President to tell me anything, I already know the truth! And John Kerry has no idea what he is talking about!

I'm pretty conservative, and actually find Bush too liberal on a number of issues. However, I find Kerry to be so far to the left he is more than skirting on socialism.

But, no matter who is elected, I'm an American. And now I want to let all y'all know about a really neat thing.

This company makes street signs. But since 1 week after 9-11, they have been sending out free American Flag decals! This is from their webpage:
http://street.safeshopper.com/482/cat482.htm?12

Quote:
Update:
As of September 2004, we've sent out over 734,000 free American flag decals and mailed over 36,650 letters requesting these. Occasionally we send out large envelopes to schools, police, firemen, EMT, US military, pro-American rallies, and other organizations. We've been sending out free decals since 1 week after September 11th, 2001 and are extending this promotion of free flag decals to the life of this website. As long as this website operates we will send out these free decals. September 11th represents an important date for us, we remember and honor those lost. It's also the time that we became stronger as a nation, renewed by a strong spirit of national pride and unity. We will never forget and we understand that "freedom is not free". In honor to those who served, let us not forget, in gratitude to those now serving.
All you have to do is send them a SASE:

Street-Signs-USA.com
c/o America Stands United
PO Box 2490
Binghamton, NY 13902-2490

I wanted to let as many people know about this offer as possible. I just accidently found the website while surfing around looking for handicap stickers!! I was just blown away.

Cheerio!

"Well, Kerry certainly didn't have a clear cut answer on what he was going to do about Iraq!"
Well, I don't think anyone has a clear cut answer on what to do about Iraq! The only thing anyone can do now is to keep sending Americans over there to die. We'll never get out of there completely-election or no election.
And Kerry may 'lie' during his campaign, but I do believe that Bush lied while in office in order to go to Iraq. His family has always been in favor of war--that's how they make alot of their money. But also I believe that he was trying to fix what his dad screwed up. But then this is just my opinion.
No matter who is elected he will be our president and should be treated as such. But our president has to know how to deal with people of the world. Bush has made alot of people mad in the world because he's not very diplomatic.
Bush has a responsiblility to the American people, not the people of the world. But his statement last week about how the people of Iraq realize that their world is opening up and that they have alot to look forward to really grates on the people of the US. There are people here starving, without homes, without medicine or medical care. These people need to be taken care of-our government needs to take care of the people at home before freeing other people for us to also take care of.
At this point, I'd probably really consider Edwards for president over the two running-he should have had the nomination anyway instead of Kerry.
Take care all,

Sorry Kellydid, so you did. I have to say I did not watch much of the debate, although my dad was able to tell me about it and I did have to show my dh that they would show how each candidate reacted to each others replies/comments-although I think they pretty much tried to not show any reactions.

What I really want to hear about anyway is health care and medicine costs. I personally think we really ought to have national health like some other countries. Seems to work for people I talk to online.

take care all, time to sleep

My problem with both of these candidates is that neither of them is inspiring in any way. They both stand by their beliefs, which are very different, and it's just every person's opinion to decide who they like better, but neither of them really make people believe. I just wish we had a candidate on either side who was inspiring.

See, I disagree with this. I think people need to take care of themselves and each other - that it isn't the "bidness" of the government to do that. But I'm very conservative and a strict constructionist of the Constitution.

Back in the 1800's there was NO welfare whatsoever. In fact, there was no welfare until the Great Depression. People had to be self-sufficient, to think and plan ahead, and to commit to caring for their family members. In fact, there was a woman in Tennessee who apploied to Congress to support her because her husband had been killed, her home destroyed and other bad things had happened to her. US Congressman Davy Crockett voted against the government giving her anything, but pulled money from his own pocket to help her.

And that's the way I think the govt should be - it's job is to defend the country by maintaining a militia and other very basics. Constitutionally, the states are supposed to do the "taking care of." In the past 75 or 80 years, we have become more Socialistic under the influence of some of the socialist philosophers of the late 19th and the 20th century.

There was NO Federal Income Tax until WW I. It was supposed to be repealed after the war, but at that point the government began to expand exponentially and more bureaus started. Once a bureau or department is established, it's like crab grass - you can't get rid of it.

So, like I said before, Bush is 'way too liberal for me in many ways! But since there isn't a candidate less liberal than he is, I guess I'm stuck with him.

Cheerio!
