Country or City?

Do you live in the country or the city? Which do you prefer and why?

Hugs,train

country or city

we now live in town, but recently moved in from living on a 20,000 acre ranch that was 35 miles out!! I absolutely LOVED living out of town! Our nearest neighbor was 5 miles away!! I am definately NOT a hermit but adored the privacy!! I loved the fact that my kids could ride their bikes, work on their trucks, ride horses, etc. and it didn't bother anyone!! However, I like living in town as well, now that my DD is starting Kindergarten this year and won't have to ride a school bus 1 1/2 hours one way to school and the same amount home!!

Country

I love it out in the country. I've lived in the country all my life. I love it because my kids can get out and play in the yard and I don't have to worry about them as much if I were in the City. Plus it is peaceful and quite.

country or city

There are a lot of times that I miss living in the country!! ....... Especially late at night when the train goes by and honks it's horn at 3 a.m.~or when I just want to be alone......( alot lately)... but, city living has it's advantages such as being closer to the hospital for my littlest one.....We just spent 2 1/2 hours with him at the E.R. yesterday as he has been running a 103.6* temp. off and on for the last month and it is nice to be able to get him right in when he needs to see the Dr. otherwise, I miss the country very much and those of you who live there are very lucky!!!!!!!!!

momto4 Sorry to hear about your little one running that high of a temp. Maybe he'll feel better soon... Yes the country is nice. I've never lived in a big city...

I grew up in Houston. I never knew any difference until I married DH. His last duty station in the Navy happened to be in a small town in Georgia - if you removed the Navy base & personnel, there wouldn't be enough left to call it a town.

Now we live in the area that DH was raised in. We live in a country type atmosphere....sugar cane & soybeans growing all around us. We live on a two lane state highway where some people down the road from us used to raise cattle. At night we get skunks, opossoms, racoons, armadillos, etc.... walking across our property.

We live about 5-7 miles outside of a small town. We don't live in any actual city limits.

But we're not that far from good medical care.....about a 45-55 minute drive (going the speed limit).

So it is almost like we have the best of both worlds.

both city and country have their benifits. But I'm a country girl at heart.

I don't think I could ever live in a city. A small town, yes. But, country is where I will stay.

I have lived in both the city and the country and I prefer the city.
I can't WAIT to visit NYC someday!!!!

However, IF I had children, I would choose the country for the same reasons mom2-4 and littlecmom mention.

I do live in the city, but it is a very small town feeling, not a lot of traffic and the people are friendly overall.

I live close to our downtown and I like that. I go to the coffeehouse, drugstore, library, community theatre, Woolworths, the deli, etc.........
I would go stircrazy, without friends nearby and places to go.......but, again, with children I could see in my mind a totally different path my life would have taken.

Abear, do you miss Houston? I loved living in Dallas, for all there was to do!

Littlecmom, I saw your note back to me on the introduce yourself thread...........I lived closer to Fort Smith.

peace,train
