dishes

What are your everyday plates like? What kind of dishes do you have....do you prefer all the same pattern or do you have a mixmatch? Do you like glass or plastic to drink out of? Do you have a favorite coffee mug?
Do you have china and if so how often do you use it?

hugs,train

My everyday dishes are stoneware with an apple pattern. Apples are my kitchen theme.

I do have several mismatch plates that I have purchased at yard sales, flea markets, etc. because I thought they looked like antiques.

I have a set of china that I rarely use. It's Mikasa.

My favaorite coffee mug is a mug that my youngest brother gave me. It's got a Number 1 Sis on it. He can say that, 'cause I'm his only sis.

There's my two cents!!!

Everyday dishes

My everday dishes are white with a raised border of fruit on them.
I have a set of white with brightly colored fruit on the border that I use for Thanksgiving.
I have a set of china that has a blue rim with silver on them. I use for only special occasions.
I have green depression glass plates, dessert bowls, etc. given to me by my mil. Bubble clear glasses antique from mil. with plates, bowls, etc. to match. NEVER USE THESE!!!

My favorite tea mug is an Aladdin one I got from Wallyworld.
My favorite coffee mug is one I got from the dollar store. It holds alot of coffee. (I broke my favorite one that I got from a craft show)

There ya have it.

I love depression glass. I only have one piece. It's pink depression glass. It's a cookie or candy server. It was my gramma's.

There is a story about depression glass.

Do you realize they used to give it away at movie theaters, etc. You'd go and get a free glass or platter, etc!!

My Mother In Law

If I haven't mentioned it before, let me tell everyone now. I must have one of the greatest mother-in-laws in the world. We have a great relationship. (this is my husbands step-mother (ugly word) We never use that word, by the way.

Any way, her and my father-in-law were moving to Florida, he passed away before they could move into their new home. They were staying with friends. They gave us all these wonderful things before they moved. She still has lots of antiques in her house and she has a pink piece of depression glass that she has told everyone is mine. She knows I love antiques.

As I've said before, my husband gringes when she and I get together cause he knows we're going to get into some sort of mischief.

All my dishes are solid in color but of different colors, think Fiesta Ware only, their actually Big Lots Ware That way it matches no matter what, as my different placemats have all these colors in them. I do have a complete set of xmas dishes for 12, Dollar General - thank you all my glass ware comes from either dollar general, big lots, or dollar tree. Silver ware is the heavy duty stuff as well as some fun stuff ie plastic handles in diffent colors as the dishes.

Dishy reply (wink)

What are your everyday plates like?
My daily plates are beige and olive green with pics of several different herbs on them. Didn't realize when I had ordered them that they were the same as the coasters on my dining table. Wow, cool match.

What kind of dishes do you have....do you prefer all the same pattern or do you have a mixmatch? I like things to match, if I can. For years, up until this spring I had to sets of 4 different patterns and I had a job at that time so I splurged and matched 2 new sets and they are Correlle

Do you like glass or plastic to drink out of?
It doesn't matter to me, just needs to be a 'big' glass. Since I moved to the south 16 years ago, I have learned the custom to carry a glass of something to drink around with me. I don't want to keep getting up and go refilling my glass, so I use the big ones (20 oz)

Do you have a favorite coffee mug? Nope

Do you have china and if so how often do you use it?
I have two sets of china, not the expensive kind. One set I got as a birthday gift from my mom when I turned 17. The other, my hubby gave me as a Christmas gift about 8 years ago. They are rarely used. Only when we have company or at Christmas have I used them. My house is crowded and it is hard to get to the china cabinet, not to mention, they can't go in the dish washer. Sound lazy, don't I?!

Well my favorite plates are paper. Really, we all hate to wash dishes and with all of us not always eating at the same time paper/plastic is a lot easier. Now we usually use ragular glasses-although the ones I like are plastic, everyone else has decided they like the glass ones-but we don't really have any matching ones in the cupboard. We melamac we use when we're out of paper or have guests.
I have a set of stoneware from my MIL that has a wintery scene on them that I love. I do try to use them for special occasions.
My DD has a nice set of china from my MIL in storage, also some carnival glass.
If I had my choice though-I would use some nice china-when I can get the pattern that I like.
Well, anything to make life easier actually.
Take care all.

Hi Kellydid, Well Winnabow is 17 miles west of Wilmington and 17 miles east of Southport or 50 miles north of Myrtle Beach, SC. SE NC. If I remember correctly Goldsboro is about 8 hours or more from us. It's at least a good days ride.
