Your local newspaper

What is your local newspaper(s) name? Do you enjoy reading the paper for news or do you watch the news on TV? (Or neither?)
Has your name ever been mentioned?
Your picture? Have you ever written a letter to the editor?

Our's is the "Bakersfield Californian." I like reading the paper, usually take it to work with me.
We had our family picture in the paper in 1989 when there were still 5 generations of women living. My grandma and great grandma have passed away since then.

hugs,train

Ours is the Journal & Topics, the other is the Times, but I like the first one better.
We know the editor casually through dh's golf league and some common friends so that sometime helps a little if we are around during certain photo-ops. I'm pretty involved with the community through civic groups, church, school and city committees so there may be a mention here and there. Once there was a pic of me (8 mos preg.) but the angle was wrong so I just looked fat!

Ours is the Beaver County Times and it pretty much stinks as a newspaper. There are so many errors it in every day such as ending a story in mid sentence just because they ran out of room or mispelled words......

My DH buys the USA Today everyday so I read that too when I go to pick my son up from school.

I have written letters to the editor & have had my name in the years ago for high school awards.

We have an on-line paper as well as a print and on-line paper

The Public Opinion

www.publicopiniononline.com

The Gazette

www.innernet.net

I enjoy reading the paper for the news as I am not big on tv.
I prefer the Gazette because they have more positive stories. I just think it is well written and lists the "good" in the community.

I have written a letter to the editor, my husband was selected for "Father of the Year" in 1996 , Delia's picture has been listed in regards to the local county fair, and the kids have entered the "draw your mom/dad contests".
Oh yeah, also our engagement announcement, wedding announcement, Delia's birth announcement, and Angel's birth announcement !

We have three local papers-The Star News,Wilmington, NC (which is also online as www.starnewsonline.com ) This is a daily.
The Southport Pilot and The Brunswick Beacon are two weekly papers. I like to read them all AND watch the news on TV. When I can't get the Star News I'll usually check it out online, but I prefer to read the actual papers.

I enjoy reading the paper everyday, everything form the local news to the comics. I like to sit outside at night and read through the paper.....thats the only time it's cool enough to sit outside in the summer!

Does anyone do the sudukos or crossword puzzles in their paper?

We only have a paper that comes out one day a week; on Wednesday in the mail It is about four pages long and gives you just about all the local news plus some surrounding areas happenings. It is called The Clarion News and comes out of a county thirty miles away. Only paper around here unless you want to go to another county further away and they have the bigger city papers available.
I like reading it as it is the only way to keep up with what is happening any where near where we live.

We have two, the very local one is the Visalia Times Delta and the other is the Fresno Bee. I used to buy one just on the weekends and read it almost all the way through but don't have time for that now and most of the time I hear it on the local news before it gets to the newspaper. I rarely buy the paper at all now as it saves money and I don't have the hassle of trying to recycle the old newspapers. Once in a great while I will buy a weekend edition to get the ads and the coupons and might read the front page and the comics but that is about it. The rest of it seems too political now. I've never been in the newspaper but my husband has two or three times about classes he has taught at the senior center.
