I didn't know Junior was going to race for RYR? I thought they were in the works to renewing his contract.
I knew Sadler might be going to the #19, but I thought Mayfield was going to be in the #38, but not so. They have David Gilliland riding the #38 for this weekend. Things seem to be hush hush in that department.
In our house, NASCAR wins out over football. DH is the football fan here. We have 3 televisions in Carlsbad and 2 in Las Cruces and he could watch football if he wanted, but he doesn't if NASCAR is on. I believe I have trained him right. Now, if I can just get him to get rid of Jeff Gordon as a favorite driver. lol
Since Nascar season is underway again and it seems like there are a few Nascar fans on FC, I thought maybe we should bump this thread.
Scanning the Feb Friendship thread it looks like DeBora wasn't the only one watching the Daytona 500 last Sunday.
Who are you favorite drivers ?
Why do you like Nascar?
Has you been to a race or do watch on TV?
Well, everyone knows I love Bobby Labonte!!! I root for him every race while watching television, including some of the Busch races that may choose to race in.
I went to the Cup race back in October and my photo above is of Bobby and I then. I also have a photo of everyone else, including Petty's son and Bobby and his wife Donna.
I like NASCAR because I went to the local races and watched them on television when I was a little girl. So, car racing brings back some positive memories for me.
Today's trivia question on our local radio station had to do with NASCAR.
NASCAR began in 1948--What does NASCAR stand for? (DeBora I know you know the answer)
I don't really have any one driver that I am a big fan of, but there are some I like better than others. I would have much rather had Mark Martin win the Dayton 500 than Kevin Harvick (Not a fan of his at all)
I have been to one NASCAR race in Kansas City. It was the first NASCAR race at the new track. If you are a fan and have a chance to go to a live race you really should. It is hard to explain the atmosphere at a race, but it is a lot of fun.
Joy, you are correct. I do know the answer. It's the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. Some of the trivia questions they ask on television during a race are difficult. Of course, I know all the Bobby ones.
Joy, you hit the nail on the head when you said that it is hard to explain the atmosphere. I get goose bumps thinking about it though. The military jets going overhead at the beginning, the cheers, the smells, the sites, and the rest of it. My DD went to a drag race (funny cars) when she was a teen. She wasn't into funny cars, but the atmosphere was so awesome that she was on a high for days and days!
