I have rapid cycle too but they tell you the bread isn't as good using this feature.....so I never tried it either....why bother if it isn't as good... *chuckle*

There is also a time delay feature so that it can start baking at 4am.....and you can have fresh bread by 7..or start it at whatever time you like.... I've done this and it works great!

Thanks for the tips Mrs.Maniac and Jeannie...I was wondering about that feature. 58 mins seemed like not enough time to me. It would be nice if there were actually salespeople to answer the questions you have...there advice , if you don't like it , bring it back. lol

I really hate bread from the store...I much rather have real bread, with texture, grains and fiber. I figured anything that you can mush together to make a breadball..is not good for you.

My ds has been taking Hawaiian rolls, with meat on them for lunch. He'll do that till he gets sick of them. He ate rolled up sandwiches for a whole year...now won't look at another tortilla.

Janet.... you can get one in WalMart or Target..and as long as you have the receipt.....you can return it for any reason. You can just say you don't want or like it and they will take it back...just don't mistreat it..

Black & Decker Bread Machine

Janet~~~~I always use the rapid bake feature. Mine take 2 hours from start to finish. I even use whole wheat mixed in mine and it comes great. Hate to waste 4 hours on regular setting. Good idea to do it at night but the noise would wake me up. Nothing like the smell of fresh baked bread. After awhile you can experiment with different ingredients and change it around. My Mom bought one and she is 90yrs old all her friends love to visit. She even finally bought a microwave too after visiting with me last year. Don't get too cheap a model since they do not hold up as well. If you can find a good sale grab it.

Bread Machine

I also have a Black & Decker 1 1/2 pound loaf machine which I love. I use the rapid cycle when I have unexpected company. They think I am a fabulous cook because all they can smell is the bread cooking and it reminds them of Grandma's house. It is also great because I can make up a bunch at a time, slice it and freeze it. My family prefers it to the store stuff. If you do the math it is cheaper. My mother-in-law prefers the Westbend 2 lb model. I have seen sourdough starter recipes for the 2 lb size (on this site) but would like a good one for the 1 1/2 lb bread maker. I use the larger one on the rapid cycle and when it is done mixing I let it rise in the oven and bake. It makes 2 & 1/2 loaves. Does anybody have some good recipes for the bread maker? State for what size maker please. It can make a mess.
