Our Ikea is the biggest in Australia I think we walked about 3 kilometeres from beginning to end than heavens they have a restaurant as it was lunch time by the end LOL
I also bought a couple of chopping boards, 2x2pk magazine (sturdy) holders and 2 sm square glass oven dishes, pretty cheap to ... and had money left to buy a few clothes at another shop centre LOL

Goldeagle I to have been looking at their fold out couches for ds1 room when he moves out but like you thought of the price.

Cat is your rice cooker a microwave one specifically for that? The one I bought was a wall plug in one but I'm liking the recipes thanks .... don't mind a good curry!

Yes I agree IKEA is pricey but they also have some good deals too. I bought my kitchen stool for $15.00 it folds up if I want it to but it stays open and ready for me to use.
Has anyone made Rice Pudding in their rice cooker?

Yes, mine is to be used in the microwave, no plug to it so microwave only. I really like it though, put the rice in and forget it!

No, No, No, No, No.....the rice cooker is at least as versatile as a slow cooker. It is my most-used appliance. There is even a rice cooker group ricecookerrecipes : Rice Cooker Recipes where you can find some terrific recipes. There is one for roast beef that is superb, plus a lot of other recipes, like spaghetti and meatballs and even how to make KD in the rice cooker (fast, easy and good). Plus you can steam weiners (or whatever) to go with it. (I add veggies to my KD.) You can make cakes in the rice cooker and many other things. If you ever watch Wolfgang Puck on any of the shopping channels you will get an idea of some of the things you can make in a rice cooker.

A very few of the recipes you can make in the RC. I personally use the KD one all the time (only way I now make KD), and the Pot Roast recipe.

Pot Roast

1 1/2 to 2 pound pot roast, I use chuck
1/2 cup flour
2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
3 1/2 cups beef stock or broth
1 stick salted butter

Cut the roast into chunks and coat with flour.

Add butter to rice cooker (10 cup) and press cook. (You can also do the whole roast, floured and seared in a large frying pan. When butter is melted, place roast into RC, brown on all sides.

Add onions and stock or broth.

Secure the lid and press COOK. Cook for 3 hours or until the meat just falls apart.

If the RC switches to Keep Warm before it is done, add,1/4 cup water and press COOK again. [I have had to add water quite a few times before it was done.]

Cooking is complete when RC switches to KEEP WARM and the meat is fork tender, falling apart.

Serve it with steamed carrots, which you can do the last in the steamer basket, for the last 20 minutes of cooking the pot roast, and serve with a nice crusty bread, as the gravy is yummy.

OR add potatoes and carrots, right in with the roast.

Easy Spaghetti and Meatballs

Pasta (spaghetti-broken in half, penne, rigatoni...)
Your favorite sauce (about 16-24oz)
Water or other liquid: wine, broth
Pre cooked frozen meatballs (or you can make your own ahead of time)

Place dry pasta into the rice cooker, dump one jar of sauce, add enough water (or other liquid of your choice: wine, beef stock) to ensure the pasta is covered. Place enough meatballs over across the top to make one layer. Push the cook button. When the cooker switches to warm, stir the mixture and push cook one more time.

Rice Cooker Mac and Cheese

1 box Kraft Mac & Cheese
1 3/4 cups hot water
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup butter

Put everything into rice cooker, stir and cook for about 10-12 minutes. Good idea to not put the milk until it is almost finished.

Easy Fiesta Rice

1 small onion, chopped
1/2 medium bell pepper, chopped
1 can (14.5 oz) petite diced tomatoes-drained
3 measures long-grain rice (each measure is 3/4 cup = 2 1/4 cup)
chicken stock or water
1 teaspooon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Measure rice, and rinse. Place rice, onion, pepper and tomatoes into rice cooker. Fill rice cooker to 3 cup mark. Close lid and press cook.

Serving Ideas
This is a wonderful side dish for chicken or fish. For variations use the canned tomatoes with the green chilies and cilantro and add 1/2 cup whole kernel corn, and drained black beans.

Try doubling this recipe and use the leftovers for stuffed vegetables- like adding to cooked ground beef and use in stuffed peppers.

Rice Cooker Oriental Chicken

1 chopped bell pepper
1 green onion - top chopped
1 1/2 cups rice
1 (14 oz) can chicken broth cube
1 (8 oz) can water chestnuts
1 (6 oz) can chicken
1 (8 oz) can sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup butter

Mix ingredients together in rice cooker. Set to "cook". Dish is done when cooker goes off.

You are welcome. Check out the Rice Cooker group on Yahoo. Lots of recipes there. KD is Kraft Dinner (or whatever boxed mac and cheese you prefer).

Thanks, Irene! I'm definitely going to try the Fiesta Rice. I think my family would really like that.
