Bread Dough in the Food Processor

Has anyone had success using a food processor to make bread dough?

My ancient bread machine looks like it has finally given up the ghost. I took out the dough and finished it in my stand mixer. But a neighbor of mine suggested that I could use a large-capacity food processor to make bread dough. I never bake in the bread machine, anyway.

I'd love to hear someone else's experiences with this technique.

I have a bread maker but I would be interested to see if there is a way to do it with the food processor.
Kneading is where I fall down in making bread by hand, can't seem to do it right.

I make all my pizza crust in the food processer. I put my dry ingredients in first, pulse, add the wet, pulse until the dough leaves the sides. Let rest, shape and bake. I think you could do the same with bread dough.

I thought of you Barb when I was at the thrift stores this week. I saw lots of bread machines. The shipping would not have been frugal.

Thanks, Connie, you're a sweetie.

I put a request out on freecycle and then a good friend told me that she has a machine just sitting there that she does not use. So she intends to give that to me.

So your yeast would go in with the dry ingredients?

Trying to figure where I would put the dry yeast in.
I'm thinking of giving it a go for breads, might try some quick sweet buns.

Yes, I put all the dry ingredients in, mix it up, slowly pour the wet ingredients in while plusing the fp.

Does that help?

I need to buy a new one. Do you have one you would suggest?

Cool will give it a go, thanks.

My food processor is a Phillips Cucina but it's over 5yrs old. I love it to grate a block of cheese so I can put it in the freezer cheaper than buying the pre grated stuff.
Also for dough and scones mostly. Just never thought of bread.

I usually go with buy the best you can afford.
