Question Convection oven?

I have a beautiful 5 burner, convection, gas stove and I do not know how to use it. I have tried the convection but am confused. Does anyone have a good working knowledge of a convection oven? I would appreciate any tips and recipes you have!

You are so lucky to have a convection oven in your stove. I have a counter top convection oven that I like. The same recipes can be cooked in both ovens. The temperature has to be adjusted in recipes 25 - 50 degrees. Cooking time will be less. Foods cook best uncovered to get quicker cooking time otherwise it will be the same as nonconvection. Should use low side pans to brown better and keep foods moister. The fan does circulate the heat better around the food.

cooked, I wish I could help you but I don't have one or experience with one.

I know commercial kitchens use them and I think I saw a microwave convection or toaster oven convection in wal mart?

Thanks sueanne for the information, I am thinking of the toaster oven for the future...

Thanks for the link. I am going to have to do some more exploring I suppose. I worked really long hard hours to be able to afford this stove. I feel very fortunate. If anyone has any recipes that they find work really well in a convection oven, I would love to try them!

I have a convection oven but it is a microwave convection oven. It cooks as per micro and with a different set of buttons as per fan forced oven.
It's great it heats quickly and cooks evenly.

I have a conventional / convection oven. Well its not connected any longer, but I loved it when it was. I bought it and about a year later my boyfriend moved in and we use his stove. (I like mine better) Anyhow, most things in the convection take about half the time. If you are preparing something from the store, frozen food for example, look on the directions and they usually tell you for both types of ovens what temp. and time to do. Tammy

Tammy, did you ever bake bread, buns, cookies or cakes? My oven automatically adjusts the temp. Also, my oven has conv bake and conv roast. What the heck is the difference?

I am glad someone ask this question because when we moved into this house the stove that is here can be either or and I have never used the convection oven because I had no clue how to use it. Thanks for the info and I will also check out the website.

Here is a good site that tells something about convection differences. They do sell cookbooks for people with convection ovens.

Sueanne, thanks for the link. I have read it and now I understand the difference between convection bake and roast. I am going to poke around some more as I cannot find a convection recipe book anywhere. Thanks again everyone for all the information!
