Information About Fonts

A few have asked about fonts, and how to save them, etc., so here is some info for you all. I personally do not save them, even though I do use them, I will post how to use them when you save and when you dont save them
How to Install a Font
1. Click Start, point to settings, click Control Panel, and double click fonts.
2.On the file menu, click Install New Font
3.Click the drive, and than click the folder that contains the font you want to add.
4.Click the font you want to add.
OR You can also add a font by "dragging the file you want to the Fonts Folder.
How to use UNinstalled Font
This is the way I use fonts, this will only work when you have the font opened in "Font view window"STEPS, you MUST do steps in this order
1.Open Windows Explorer and select any UNINSTALLED by double clicking on the font file.(By double clicking on the font file,Windows opens a view of the font using Font View exe.)
2. Leave the view open or it wont work
3.Now open any WIndows base program, such as Word,Excel,Photoshop,Paintshop, etc.
Now the uninstalled Font is now listed in the Font pull down menu,"without: you having to install it. You can now use the uninstalled font.
How To Fix: Dont Have an "install new font command"
The fonts folder may be missing the System attribute.Since Explorer doesnt have that as a "point and click" GUI,you can fix by the following command
"Click on your windows Start Button, select "Run"than type this in the open box
ATTRIB +S C:\Windows\Fonts
Than you need to ReBoot your computer.

will work on this and if I need more help I know where to come.

Ps. if you used fonts why don't you save them?
and do you follow these same insturctions on using them but not saveing them?

also not sure what yo mean by dragging them.

what is GUI? it takes me some time to learn certain things.

thanks again for posting all of this for us.

Hi Barbar, I didnt know what GUI stood for either until recently, lol. It stands for "Graphical User Interface", in other words, things like the "push buttons"scroll bars,"click here" buttons, or anything where you can :interact" on a page, instead of like say a page that is all text and you have to go to web addresses.
Also the reason I dont save fonts is just my preference, they do take up ALOT of space on your hard drive, and I dont use them much, because when I add text I use the fonts at Image Magick, or just go to a font site and insert the code from the site into Image Magick, I dont use the same font over and over so no sense in saving something that is taking up space, and I wont use it.Any other ?? just yell!!
