How To Do "alphas" Using Irfanview & Gif Works

Here is one way (an easy one) to do Alphas, using Irfanview and the Gif Works site. This will only work for NON animated ones.
First you need to have Irfanview downloaded, (its free, and very safe) here is the link for those that dont have it
http://irfanview.com
You will also need some Alphas, you can find them here
http://grannyshares.com/home.html
they will be in a zip file, and you just download and add them to a file of your choice, just because its easy I use my picture file, and only put in the letters I know I will be using. Okay now the first thing to do is to Open Irfanview, you can choose to have it on your desktop or in the start menu, I use the start menu. Open up Irfanview, it will load in the left hand top of your screen.
Now look up at the top bar, and you will see "Image button" click on that, and choose "Panoramic Image". A box will open and make sure you check "Horizontal" (unless you want the letters to go "vertical" than choose vertical. Now you will see an Add Images" button click on it, your picture file (or whatever file you have saved your Alphas in, will open, than choose the first letter you want, click on it, hit the "open" button, and the info for it will now be in the Create Panorama Image Box. Click "add Images, again, and keep doing this until you have all your letters in the box. Than you click the CREATE IMAGE button.
Now your Alpha will be in the Irfanview screen. Click on file at the top of the box, and scroll down to "save as" and save your Alpha in your folder (or in my case picture album).Make sure you remeMber what you named it. Now you will also notice that when you have finished your alpha and its in the Irfanview box, it will have a white or black back ground, which is fine if you like it, personally I like NO background. Now to get rid of this background and to make your image look more "finished" you have to go t the GIF works site
http://www.gifworks.com
Once on the site, click on the :browse button, and find your Alpha, click the "upload" button, and than your image will open on another screen. Look up at the top of the Gifworks page and click on the "drop down" arrow, under the word "edit", and choose "transparify". This will open your Alpha in a smaller box, take your mouse pointer, and put it on the background color you want to make transparent., and it will again open in another screen, with out the background!
Now you may want to resize it, as they usually come out pretty big,so all you do is, look up at the top again, and click on the drop down arrow, and choose "resize". Im gonna post one I just did, when I made it the size was 602x128, way too big, so I made it about half the size 301X64(alittle better, lol) and than I went smaller to 150x32.When you have gotten it the right size ,just "save as". Any questions let me know, Im sure you will find these easy to follow, and dont be discouraged if you mess up ,just have fun, we all were there once, and I still mess up,lol.
HERE ARE THE 3 SIZES I JUST PLAYED AROUND WITH.

Becky if you go here
http://www.irfanview.com/

than on the right side where it says Irfanview, click on that, that should be all you have to do,
YAY Teresa!!!!!!!!!I just got the email about the "sort" lol, I didnt add that because when you add the letters the right way (as if you were making the name) you dont need it,I didnt think it would be a problem, lol, but guess it was. Now see how the background on the one you did still has the white?? Take it to GIF works, and do what I said, (click on transparent and you wont have it, I actually think they look better with out it,but its up to you. Im gonna try it now and show the difference.
