2 Easy Ways To Resize Images

There are so many ways to resize images, and so many different programs, some free some not, but these are the 2 I find the easiest, and are great for images here on FC.
So as not to confuse anyone, here are two I use alot to start with. The first one is right on your computer the Microsoft Paint Program,to open it, just open up your picture file and find the image you want to size, right click on it and and select "open with",than select "paint". Now your picture will be in the paint box in the left hand corner of your pc.In the menu bar at the top of the box select "Image" than choose "stretch and skew",and another box will open. Now put whatever percentage you would like your picture to be changed to.100% is full size,so if you put in say 50%,your picture will be reduced half size,or if you put in 200% it would enlarge it, (also you lose quality of the picture when you enlarge in the paint box). You may have to play around some with the numbers to get it how you want.Than just save to your picture file again.I also dont use any animated pictures in the paint box because when you resize them you will lose all the animation thats why I use the next one posted here(mainly for animated "gif's".
GifWorks site,here is the link
http://www.gifworks.com/cgi-bin/gifworks.pl?com=transfer_open&changemenu=true&menu type=_plain&img=&orig=&view=100&site=

This is a very EASY to do program, but the only drawback is the image HAS to be in"gif" format . once you get to the GifWorks site you will see a "browse" button, click on it and your picture file will open, find your image, click on it, the name than will appear in the "filename" box, click "open",than hit the "upload button"Okay now your image is on the screen, but before doing anything look up in the right hand corner and make sure the box that says DHTML menu is UNchecked. Now to resize click on the top drop down arrow under "Edit" than choose "resize",a smaller box will open with the size of your image, click on the "higher" number (ex. if the box says 300x200) you would click on the 300, than the other box will automatically adjust itself, so you dont even have to guess, its done for you!Than when you get your image the size you want click okay, and the image will reappear in the original box. Just click on it and save it to your picture file.As I said any questions just ask!

sorry for the back to back, but got a question
on the gif site with all the changes and pictures are smaller, what size does it take now?
what is a good size to put into gif?

if a picture is not gif how can we make it into one?

thanks

Pinkie Winky Sandie, this is great stuff!

Thank you for the information on resizing as this will come in handy.

Sandie, could you please post the link to UnFreez again for me? I lost my download when I restored my comp.

Here is the link for UNFREEZ Lita, Im gonna put directions on how to use it also, its just b een a busy wkend, and I havent been able to get online, until now
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/unfreez.html

remember in UNFREEZ you can only put in GIF pictures to animate them.
Bar bar as far as how to change an image to gif, one way is to "open the picture in your MS Paint(dont do this to an animated picture you will lose the animation, and most animated things are gif anyhow. But take your jpeg picture or bitmap, and open it in MS paint, now you click on the "file" button in the top left hand corner. Than your picture file will open, and click on the drop down arrow that you will see in the bottom box, there will be choices as to what format you can change to, than just click "gif", and your picture will be saved as gif. You will also notice that a warning box will open and say you may lose some of the quality of the picture by saving it in GIF, and that is true, but its not all that bad. Now if you really dont want to lose the quality of the image you can take the image to Image Magick, an online tool, that lets you change to different formats and you wont lose the quality of the picture. I just posted how to do that and here is the link
