Watch Collecting

Hi,

It has been a long time since I last visited. A good friend of mine has been into watch collecting. Her husband got my boyfriend into it as well so we have been doing that.

I belong to a watch collecting forum also. I just joined there. It happens to be my friends husbands site.

They do not sell anything there. It is all talk about watches.

Does anyone here collect watches?

My husband use to collect pocket watches. At one time i guess we had about 200 or more. He use to have dollar watches, 21 jewel watches, ball watches, most of all your expensive railroad grade watches, hamiltons, elgins, you name it and he probably had them. He also had the chains and a few ladies locket pocket watches. This was an interesting hobby to get into when you trace back the serial numbers and other identifying marks and think maybe a president toted it or some lawyer or dr. or sheriff or who knows. It was just too much to keep them all wound up so he sold them and of course made a loss.

I don't really collect watches BUT do have several. NONE are expensive other than a Lady Elgin I was given back in early '56 because I was "making my g-dad a gr-grand dad" bless him he did not live to see her born in Aug. That watch is a wind one of course and it goes to my daughter, since I would not have it if not for her. I love watches and now have a cuff one that my middle dau bought me this past Christmas. I was out Thursday and forgot to put one on so bought one while at PX lol. Like I said none are all that expensive. I never have too many and anyone wanting to buy me a gift can not go wrong with it being a watch lol

Good morning Watch lovers. Well, dopey here forgot her watch yesterday sooooo stopped at Big-K and bought one (feel soooooo naked when out and forgot to put one on) actually bought 2 but one is part of daughter Judy's Christmas. And how I forgot to put one on have NO idea as there are 3 sitting right here on my desk and lots more behind me in my Jewelry Armoir (sp) and even more in smaller jewelry boxes and my hanging jewelry thing. Any one get the idea I love watches and necklaces?
