Herbs!

What herbs do you have in your gardens? Are they for show or for culinary use?

Last year I planted dill, chives, thyme, sweet basil, and parsley.

I actually froze all mine for use in the kitchen.

Hoping to add: Oregano, Rosemary, Other basils, and Lavendar and a few more for kitchen use. And hope to dry them for a change.

I am thinking of adding some shade loving herbs for my flower beds at home for decoration and perhaps cooking!

They are:

SUMMER SAVORY

OREGANO

Hoping to add Lavendar and a few others.

I still haven't decided what herbs to plant this year. I will definitely plant basil, oregano, and thyme. But haven't decided what else yet. I REALLY want to do a butterfly garden but am afraid I'll be jumping into too much and get in over my head

Herbs

Hello everyone! I am getting spring fever just thinking about my herb garden.. I grow close to fifty different herbs, some being culinary and some medicinal. I am learning to make my own salves and medicinal teas. A short list of the ones I grow: Cinnamon basil, lemon basil, lime basil, camphor basil, opal basil, sweet basil, lemon balm, lemon mint, lime mint, banana mint, orange mint, chocolate mint, spearimint, peppermint, feverfew, calendula, dill, motherwort, soapwort, oregano, sage, chives, lady's mantle, tansy, yarrow, pineapple sage, applemint, rose scented geranium, marshmallow, stinging nettle, euclyptus, .......I use alot of my herbs in bath products and cosmetics.
Most of my herbs grow outside in the garden with a few having to be inside during the winter months. Can't wait until spring!
Happy gardening!

Sherry

They are beutiful. I helped mom put one in 2 yrs ago. She even wanted it in the shape of a butterfly. We did it in all perenials so she doesn't have to keep planting it every year. If you do put one in remember to put in a ' butterfly bath' a shallow container with muddy water in it. I don't know why it has to be muddy but it does. They're no different then any other garden you put in only the flowers are all what butterflies like. Fairly simple.
After doing Mom's theme garden I made a moon garden for me. All white/silver flowers/ foliage, the neat thing is they bloom in the evening or at night. So it looks like you have a moon reflection in your grass. I think I will do that one again this year. I really liked it, something different.

At the moment we are growing Mint, Lavender and Aloe Vera. I love the smell of Mint and I growing it as a ground cover for part of my yard. I also like to cut it and use in the bath because I love the smell of it. Lavender I think is a great plant that I also love the smell of. I take off some of the stems and just inhale the scent. I know Aloe Vera is not an herb, but we have used it in the past when my dh got a sunburn.
