The Zone

Lissa -

I have "the Zone" a book on low carb eating...it has lots of recipes and if you are interested I would be happy to scan some for you. Just let me know, email me or post reply here and I will email you the scanned pages.

I followed the Zone a few years ago and lost 45lbs in 3 months. Of course I was excersizing too.....which really only consistsed of running for 30-45 min 5 days a week and always parking as far out in the parking lot as possible. And, I always felt content and satisfied as far as food was concerned.

My husband is coming home from his 18 mo tour of duty in Korea this Christmas and I want to lose 7-10 lbs before her get here so I am doing the Zone again. Actually, once you learn the Zone way of eating.....don't call it dieting - just a new way to eat.....it is very easy to follow it and stay with it...even when eating out.

In case you wish to look into getting the book...
Mastering the Zone by Barry Sears, Ph.D.

Lots of great recipes! I changed to low-carb eating a year and a half ago. I have far more energy and a LOT less fat.

Any of you who are on AOL, I host a low-carb cooking chat on Thursday nights, you have to have AOL to access it. Write to me as HOST FOOD Magic@aol.com for more info. All this month, we are doing low-carb recipes for Thanksgiving. After each chat, I email out all the recipes we did and post it on my AOL merssage board as well.

In addition, I write a column for the e-zine at CarbSmart.com, called the Low-carb Cook's Corner. Here's the link:

There are many L-C recipe sites on the internet. Here are some to get you going:

Post Zone Books

I typed "zone sears" into the ebay search window and came up with 54 items. Most under $5. If you're ever looking to buy anything - check ebay first!! - honestly - you can find anything on that site! Its simple and easy too. Just register - when i buy something all i have to do is send a money order to the seller and i have it in a couple of days (you can pay online too) - books take longer if they're shipped media mail (week or two) but the shipping on a book is usually less than $2. I have bought quite a few books through ebay and have not been disappointed yet.

First a recipe...Scrumptious Cheese Cake in the MICROWAVE
crust:
1/4 c butter
1 c ground walnuts
filling:
2 8oz pkgs cream cheese
2/3 c Splenda
1/4 t salt
1/3 c milk
2 T lemon juice
4 eggs
Low carb jam for topping (optional)
Use a 9-inch pie plate. Melt butter on high for 1 min. Stir the crumbs into the butter and press them evenly in the bottom of the pan and up the sides. Microwave on high for 1 min. Set aside.
Microwave the cream cheese on hight for 30 sec to soften. Beat the cream cheese, Splenda & salt together. The blend in the eggs, milk & juice. Microwave the mixture in the bowl on high for about 4-7 min. Stir the mixture every couple min. When it's very hot, it's finished.
Pour the hot mixture over the crust & microwave at 50% for 7-15 min. Rotate the cake every 3 min. When the center of the cake is set, it's finished. Cool the cake, and then refrigerate it for 8 hrs. Garnish the cake or serve it with your favorite topping.

NEXT BIGGIE: my favorite website........... http://www.carb-lite.au.com/

MY BRAG:: I've lost quite a bit of weight (I don't really know how much........) but I do know...... I went from a size 22 to a 14.... and I'm still losing! Keep up the good work........... Becky
