Help with a low-cholesterol diet needed!!

My fil was told he needs to lower his cholesterol. He was on the Atkins diet and of course he can't do that anymore and I want to help him make the transition. I would like any sites, recipes and tips anyone has.

Also, he loves eggs for breakfast, but that's out. Can anyone think of something filling, low-cholesterol and low-carb?

Thanks.

I was recently told I must go on a low-cal, low-fat and low cholesterol diet.

I have been doing it for about 5 days now and have been doing well.

I have made pasta stuffed peppers that are 200 calories for a while pepper.

I have also made chicken cacciatore, chicken with peppers and onions as well as Pita Pizzas. All very good.

I am awaiting my AHA Cookbooks for Low-Fat and Low Cholesterol diets. They should be here today.

I too have to watch my cholesterol. I eat Oatmeal every morning for breakfast, its not my favorite so I try not to think about it! :p

Egg beaters, or Scramblers are great to make scrambled eggs. I usually put chives, and Mrs. Dash in the substitue eggs to make them taste better. I use Benecol Butter for toast. It is very expensive, $5.00 for a small tub...but I figured having a heartattack is expensive too! :p

It is hard starting the low fat, cholesterol diet but after awhile you will hate the taste of greasy food, chips, cheese....

Good Luck!

My husband is a diabetic who also has to control his cholesterol.

This is his favorite breakfast: egg white omelet with fresh vegs and turkey ham. I always put in some onion, bell pepper, tomatoes and mushrooms that I have sauteed in some nonstick spray (like Pam) before hand. I also throw in the diced turkey ham before the veggies finish. Sometimes I put some fat free cheese into the omelet too.......but not very often as it is high in sodium. (not good for his high blood pressure)

Use your imagination when making an egg white omelet and put in whatever your f-i-l loves!

Another good breakfast: Cheerios or Bran Flakes with sliced banana.

Almost any recipe can be prepared lower in fat & cholesterol if you make the right substitutions.

THINK LEAN!
