low in sugar

DD is hypoglycemic. I am looking for snacks with 20gr of carbs, low in sugar content and with protein. She cannot take peanut butter to daycare or playschool and the kindergartens and schools here are also nut free so we are limited there.
Any suggestions??

Have you tried hummus? I buy a brand called Athenos in a flavor called Roasted Red Pepper--I like it with crackers and pita bread. I pulled my container out of the frig and the carbs are 6g. the sugar is 0 and the protein is 2 g. The serving size is 2 Tbsp--which is a nice size serving.

Guess I forgot to mention that she is 5 and a very picky eater.
Hummus would be a no go. Thanks for trying.

My daughter was hypoglycemic when she was younger so here's a few ideas:

-lunchmeat w/cheese slice rolled up (you can include a dill pickle in the center if she likes them)
-crackers w/ cheese slices and summer sausage or pepperoni (experiment with different types of cheese like cojack, medium sharp cheddar, or butter)
-veggie sticks with ranch dressing
-celery with squirt type cheese or cream cheese
-deviled or hard boiled eggs
-in a mini sized cupcake tin make quiche
-little chicken nuggets

There are also a lot of good cookbooks out there for making treats without sugar. Remember the more interesting you make things look the more of a treat it is for the child. So use little cookie cutters to cut the cheese, cut veggie sticks thin, you can make suns or flowers out of carrots by cutting strips out of the carrot and then cutting them into thin round slices. I hope this gives you some ideas to start with. Good Luck!
