Oh the thought of eating a dog or cat no way BUT guess if I was raised that way I could. I called a friend who is Korean after I read that to see if any of her family some of which are still in Korea ever eat or did eat dogs, she said not her family or neighbors where they live.
We are under storm warning till 11. I hate storms and it is getting very close to Hurricane season which is likewise scary.

Patti, we have been under tornado watch all evening. I live in tornado alley so this will last a while.

Ask your Korean friend if butchers in her country have butchered dog hanging in their shops and if they have dog farms like we have cows here. That is how they do it in Korea. I used to tutor a Korean family in conversational English. That is when I learned that they do not have the R sound in their language. I asked how they pronounced Korea. Their R sound is WAY different than ours. So, I told them to use that sound when they say Albuquerque and nobody would know the difference. Sure enough, nobody knew they weren't using our R sound. They hear R which sounds like their sound there, whatever it is.

Yes I will ask her when I can found out she is leaving to go on a 2 week trip.
I learned when in Japan that they too don't use our R. I loved it in Japan and have wished I could go back for a visit.
We are to have stormy weather next 3 days grrr! and hate that because I have Ortho appt in the morning and Gina her PC DR appt in afternoon of Thursday and I will be going to both, always go with her to her appts.

I hope your weather isn't too bad. I just had my hubby take the batteries out of our NOAA radio and unplug it. The constant going off was driving me crazy! Both our phones are also hooked up to NOAA so we get warnings there too according to our location. I hate getting warnings for the entire state on the radio as well as the warnings on our phone for our area.

It gives me the creeps to watch somebody handle snakes or rats.
Everybody is entitled to have a pet of their choice unless it is an animal that should be kept in the wild.
Snakes have their place but it isn't going to be in my house. Especially something like a boa.

I hope you ladies don't get real bad storms. Prayers you stay safe.

When I was talking to the pet store employee, she said if we get a snake, we wouldn't be able to take it out in public. I told her we usually don't take our pets out anyway. I understand phobias and I know that fear of snakes is a common phobia. I like boas because they can be very human friendly. (I worked at a pet store as a teen and was bitten by a boa after I cleaned the rat cages and its bad eye sight thought I was a rat because I smelled like one. I learned to wash my hands after handling the rats and before I handled the snakes.) However, reality is that, in the wild, they eat small live animals. My fear is that one would get lose and kill one of my small dogs after going hungry. My GKs like snakes too and aren't afraid of them.

Now that we are pet shopping, I told DGD that she needs to get something low maintenance. lol

I would be worried about that too. I will just stick with Panda (my Pug) and Sweetie my Parakeet. Don't have the strength any more to keep up with Guinea Pig etc.
Kent said he saw a Black snake up in my attic thank God I know it can't get down in the living part of the house. Saw no sign of where mice/rats had been in there but good bit of Squirrel damage but no squirrel so guess Mr Snake got him as we knew a squirrel had got up there maybe more than one. But Kent has fixed it now so no squirrel can get up there. We had porch ceiling damage from Nor Easter that is how they got up there.
Back to bed

I grew up in NM and West Texas, where rattle snakes were everywhere. We learned how to move them our children wouldn't stumble across them. My DH found one at work one day, killed it and cut its head off. There is a hallway that lead into the main office area. He knew it was about shift change, so he curled the dead snake up and put it near the door going into the office. There was very little light in the hallway. He heard the first, outer door open, then silence, then, bang, bang, bang. lol His coworkers saw that snake, thought it was alive and was stuck in this dark hallway.

I prefer my chihuahuas as pets. But, since we already have 2 dogs and 1 cat, no more large animals. I am leaning on having her pick out a rat for a pet. I understand they are friendly and can be trained to ride on your shoulder.

I will stick to my cats and my c$$katiel. I always had a dog when younger, sometimes 2, but don't want to get up during the night anymore to take them out. Especially in the dead of winter.

Hey everyone - I had to chime in when I saw this out of the corner of my eye.....I was taking the trash out last week and big black snake crossed my path and I jumped, yelled and ran. I hate snakes. This one was an identical one to a baby poisonous snake we found dead in the yard so I was petrified...and barefoot. EW! Hate snakes!!!!
