Happy that's the odd thing I've only had two times it's been painful other wise I would not even know it was there, (a twinge that feels like a light stitch briefly) I guess that the 'free flowing' stone part?
I'm waiting for my appointment time from the hospital Doc to see what the verdict will be, take out leave or blast.

I had my first and last major gall bladder attack on Mother's Day this year. Like Sammi and some of the others I had my gall bladder removed two days later and feel great now.
Looking back I had some small attacks earlier, but didn't realize what they were. I had a lot of lower back pain. Usually it would go away with a good nights rest. The night of my major attack there was nothing that would stop the pain.
Good luck on what ever you decide to do.

Neither my GALL STONES nor HIATEL HERNIA are bothering me all that much. Are there certain things we can not eat after we have our gall bladder out?

I had my gall bladder taken out in my mid 30's after excruciating pain in my lower back so bad I prayed for God to just take me home. I hurt so bad I wouldn't go to the emergency room because I knew I'd be laying around on a uncomfortable bed for hours. I went to my doctor after about a week of this off and on pain, he didn't think much about it but I pushed as my mil said it was the same symptons dh father had had with his. So they scheduled me for a ultrasound and found that yes I did indeed have them. They also discovered at the same time I had high blood pressure so we had to wait a couple months till they got that under control with different medications. Anything with fat in it would set it off, oatmeal cookies, candy, anything at all with fat in it. I had to tread very carefully on everything I ate... no pizza, no cheeseburgers (except turkey which is lower in fat). I had the lyproscopic surgery though the doc said it was almost full scale surgery because when they got in there, it was ready to burst and could have killed me as the poison went through my whole body. Thankfully I had a very skilled doctor and came home the next day. I can now eat anything I want. At the time of my diagnosis I wasn't diabetic but now am so unfortunately I still can't eat everything I'd like to eat but had nothing to do with the gall bladder.

Well the stone will be taken out on 20th October for an overnight stay. Not deemed an emergency so that is when I go in.

I'm going to attempt to explain our healthcare system.
Each year in our taxes a small % is taken out and that goes towards our emergency hospital visits (for free) it means that Medicare (govt run) gives you back a % of your Doctors fees each visit, this is called public medical. You can also opt to be in one of the Private funds that you pay a monthly fee depending on what you wish to claim (not us). BUT you can pay to go to a private hospital or specialist Doc anytime you like. So we are in the public healthcare system but will be paying privately for the operation, theatre, anesthesia and Doc etc. no % back, BUT I do the the best Doc in that feild and a private room etc.
Is that as clear as mud?

Kathy, is your surgeon just removing the stone or the whole gall bladder?

I think I understand your healthcare system. is it your taxes pay for public healthcare but you can choose to pay out of pocket if you choose private healthcare or pay monthly so that if you do go to a private hospital the money would come out of that fund?

Kathy... Good wishes to you. It is the best that you have this taken care of now. You will be in my prayers....... I've read the above post. The way Im understanding is that you will have to pay everything????? It's early in the morning and nothing is clear as mud right now....lol Need more coffee!
