Thanks to everyone for sharing here. I have to say, losing weight is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I quit smoking in my early 20's and that was a snap compared to this.

Once I hit 40, BLOOP! And its been slow getting here and there is more work (AND I MEAN WORK) to be done. I finally feel like after WW, Nutrisystem, and all of the diets in between, I have the key to the mint. For me its portion control, lowering carb intake and movement. I too had that roll under the breasts that rubbed on the tummy flab. Man was that ever uncomfortable! I have gone from a DD to a B. Its much "cooler" in this dreadful climate. (Plus it just flat out look better not having "two heads" projecting from my upper body. I dont get men's fascination with the boobs.) Keep 'em!

Now I have to stop the nightly glasses of vino! I LOVE to make dinner, have wine and chat with MAD! Its so relaxing for me. Club soda is just not the same.

Rome wasn't built in a day. But I didn't get this way drinking mineral water and eating carrots....

I've been able to keep the 3 lbs off that I lost but haven't moved the scale any more.

I also am trying to lose weight for health reasons but I'm also in the Army so having extra pounds keeps you from promotions and career advancement. I suppose the BIGGEST reason I am trying to lose weight is because me and DH are trying to conceive baby #3 and I wanna be in the best shape I can (or working on it) so that way the baby will be healthier and the new, fitter me can keep up!! LOL

Good for you Roberta! SUPER!

NikkiSlay, nice to meet you. Great reasons for wanting to to get healthy. If you are in the armed services, dont they offer work out facilities? (I am assuming you are on base?) I cant recall if we had one when I lived with my sister in Fallon, NV. I was ten!

I am going to use my lunch hour to hit the gym as I could not get up AGAIN today. Must eat first. Hubby can stay here with MAD while I run out for a bit.

Have a great, and healthy weekend!

CalGal, yes we do have gyms on all the regular posts back Stateside. I'm on deployment in Afghanistan right now though and although we do have gyms here, I don't really feel like going after working a 12-13 hour day....6 days a week! I do what I can while I'm at work and I've started doing the P90X workout with my First Sergeant after work (great workout by the way) also I've started "eating clean" as much as I can but the food choices here are limited in the way of healthy.

I think if I just stick to it and keep a constant picture in my head of how healthy I'm going to be it'll get me through anything!! (and drinking lots of water as well LOL)

OMGOSH!

Ok, you know what, God Bless you.

I am sure the food is very limited. And how can you excercise when it is that hot out??

You just stay safe and yes drink lots of water. Thank you for all the work you are doing.

Kids and deployment. How do you do it!!!! ????

Jodi

NikkiSlay - wow, I can't even imagine working out after working such long days and in the heat no less! Kudos to you for working out with your First Sargent and trying to eat healthy. And thank you for all you are doing for our country!!! How much longer will you be in Afghanistan?

I have been walking my dog every day up and down hills but need to lengthen my walk but time is always so limited. I think I will start walking evenings too but want to wait until it isn't quite so humid. (a poor excuse I know but I find it hard to breath when there is a lot of humidity)

Sammi: I feel you on the humidity thing...it may be hot here but at least there's no humidity! We have quite a bit of humidity in NC and I hate it!! Our unit has about 6 or 7 months left before we head back home...but if my husband has his way, I'll be headed back to the States after our R&R vacation at the end of the month...cause I'll have #3 in the oven!! LOL And every little bit counts with exercise...even if its only for a little bit.

Jodi: To answer your question...it's hard being away from my kids but I've found little ways to still be a mom from so far away. Like I did a good bit of their school clothes shopping online and had it sent to them so that way I'd feel like I was a part of back-to-school just a little bit.

Niki great job.

I like to trim down some to keep blood pressure down and diabties runs in the family. I've lost a few. Need to get moving more.

My mom gets out in the neighborhood in the evenings before she starts on dinner and walks around the block. It's not super strenuous exercise but at least she's out and about. Not only is she getting exercise, she says it also helps curb her appetite when she gets dinner ready!!
