Ladies, I need your help? The heels of my feet are so dry and cracked sometimes they even bleed. What can I do or use to prevent this from constantly happening?

Hi Candy, I recently bought some 'foot mittens' (which look like cotton sockettes) from the Body Shop. You treat your feet with their foot products or anyone else's like ordinary skin-softening cream, then put the mittens on and leave them on overnight. Supposed to be really good. I have also heard that massaging oil into your feet and then putting on a pair of cotton socks overnight will also help. Opening a Vitamin B capsule and massaging the oil contained therein is also said to be good. The oil in the capsules is apparently more concentrated than the oil you may get in a bottle. Then, there are products on the market to help - Dr. Scholl's makes one, Eulactyl Heel balm is another - I am assuming these products are available in the US?
Hope these thoughts may help.

Although very pricey, Emu Oil works well for me. Look for it in natural health food stores. I put it on every morning after showering then put on my hose or socks, it takes awhile to see results but it's about the best out there. You may also try some of the butters... Almond Butter, Aloe Butter, just stay aware from commercial products such as Jergens, etc. look in the ingredients if it says alchohol or fragrance don't use it (fragrance does contain alcohol too).

Avon offers in their Foot Works line Therapeutic Cracked Heel Relief Cream which also works wonders for hands that have cracks around the nails. It runs $4.99 but you can get it on sale often. Give your Avon representative a call.
Good to know Avon's listening... I had so many people at our show buy my face cream to use on their cracked cuticles.. I had no idea there was so much people with that problem.

I had the same problem a couple of years ago. I found a magazine article that talked about using athlete's foot cream (I used the generic Wal-Mart version). I used the product according to the package directions and it cleared up.
My heels were so bad that they were bleeding a bit and I was skeptical to use the product, but I was also desperate. I was surprised at how smooth my heels became after using it.
They have an over the counter product out there now for that specific purpose, but I can't remember what it's called.
I have heard that Lotrimin and Kerasol are also good products to use. Another suggestion is after you shower in the evenings to apply petroleum jelly or aphaphor to feet, applied heavily, and then cover feet with plastic wrap and then cotton socks. Your feet will be greatly softer.
Hi Candy and all
I hae this problem with my feet all the time-mainly because I am on my feet for work all the time. I've found that if you wear socks everyday you need to make sure you change them daily or if they get wet. Also, any lotion you have will work to keep your feet moist and supple. I will buy the pricyer creams sometimes when the cracks are bad, but honestly everything I use works the same. It's best to use a cream after your shower or bath; or soak your feet and put lotion on after. I might be able to go a day or two when my feet have cleared up good, but I find if I put lotion on every evening before going to sleep I don't have problems with dry and cracked feet at all.

'Herm Albright'
I get a lot of callus buildup and then it cracks so I go to the podiatrist who shaves off the callus. She has a product with ammonium something that increases absorption of the cream. The cream is inexpensive $16 for a tube that lasts 4 months or more. It is called DPM cream and smells like mint.
