I usually ask the kids if I can have an almond joy or something else chocolate. When my older ones were little I'd snitch, ooh, bad mommie!

no really you are being a good mommie, for you rather eat the sweets that are not good for you nor the kid rather than allowing the kid to eat it all.
I have done this to my kids, as well as my gkids. what they don't know won't hurt them at this tender age.
hey we done for these sweet darling all year long, this is thier way of helping us to get tons of candy and sweet lbs on us, then they are sweet to help us shred it by running here and there and we are suppose to keep up with them. by this time we should be shredding the weight
after our kids are grown, we get to be more blump. LOL LOL
many of times my sweet granddaughter gives me some of her candy. the youngest gdaughter, well that another matter for she loves to eat.

I tried that only once!
Why only once? Because I got busted!!!
I never even thought of snitching from DD as she was always more than happy to share her candy...sometimes I'd take a piece just to make her happy.
I got busted when DS # 1 was about 3 1/2 ! Can you believe that the little snot knew exactly how many tootsie rolls that he had?! When he cried because Mommy ate one of his tootsie rolls, it broke my heart! I never did it again!!
When my boys get candy/goodie bags at school...whatever the occasion (Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras, Easter) usually over half of it gets thrown away eventually! (we don't allow the boys to go trick-or-treating))
In fact, just about two weeks ago DS # 2 threw away the candy he had remaining in the goody bag that his teacher gave him on the last day of school last year! Inside was also some Easter candy that he had left over! (it was all stored in a freezer ziploc)
Since I am no longer supposed to eat chocolate or nuts, there wouldn't be any candy worth swiping any way!!
Bar_bar - I like the way you look at it! My older kids didn't want to share, but my younger ones are very good at sharing.
Abear - funny how a little guy could know exactly how many tootsie rolls he had, but they can! It's terrible to be found out too! lol

You're right, you can use it as a base to start teaching your child to share. Very good point.
But, if you want to get technical, I did steal my DS' candy! I don't even want to think what lesson that taught him! That is another reason I never did it again!
LOL
Ok now i don't feel so bad after hearing your stories girls....I do sneak EVERY year from my kids Halloween Candy....
They do tend to share; but it's hard to pass by their enormous candy bags laying in their rooms the next day while they are in school...and yes; 'What they don't know won't hurt em.'
I devised a clever way of avoiding stealing from the kids in the last couple of years...and it's quite funny...Since I am short; and my oldest daughter is taller than me...I dress up in a costume and go with the kids and get MY OWN candy.....It's a fail proof way of having my own bag...
Yah yah; I know; pure evil....but HEY it works...lmao ...
this year I think I'll just go to Walmart and buy myself a couple of bags for me since their aunt is taking them trick or treating....

Me and my dh always take candy from our kids, but we always ask 1st. Luckily they don't mind sharing and they even ask us what we want. We like the chocolate and so do they, so we tell them just to give us what they don't want. Thet go through their bag and in the end my dh and I have our own dish of goodies! I agree that they don't need all that junk. Neither do I, but I can't resist.lol.
